Just got in 2 SKS

A board member ordered an SKS (not saying who, don't want to step on his bragging rights), I ordered 2 and got them today.
Already shipped his, that's it in the picture, still have another one haven't even opened the box.
Of course they're covered in cosmoline and require a thorough cleaning, but they look great.
His had a small ding on the wood on the left side below the receiver, but other than that it looked nearly new. Not bad for a 50 year old rifle.
Let me know if anyone is interested in the other (before my will weakens and I talk myself into keeping it).

It's beautiful.
Are you keeping it pristine or are you gonna bubba- ize it?

Pristine. If it was good enough for mvelimir it's good enough for me. May have to put a new finish on the stock though, we'll see how it is when it gets here.

Congrats on the Yugo SKS! Mine was pretty much dead on at 25yds after cleaning.. no adjustments at all.
I did have to replace the firing pin though. It seems they used somewhat soft metal which can cause some problems.
ETA: Be careful using Wolf black box with your SKS. None of mine seem to like it(popped primers, etc).

Can you believe that I haven't cleaned mine yet. It's been what, 3-4 months now! LOL
Looks like you'll have a review of the rifle before me. Anyway, I wanted to say congratulations and enjoy it. You got yourself a perfect deer/hog rifle.

Unf. Not sure how protocol works on these boards, but how much?
[edit] As in, what's your asking price?

She's a beauty. If it were me, I'd leave the stock the way it is with any and all charactor marks and dings. Love that shit. A Yugo milled SKS is on my list. and the dragunov and the M70A1 and the M92 milled and a russian milled 47 are all on my list. Including a CZ805 and a VZ58, a post AK51 milled and 46- yeah right- dream on. Not to mention a FN FAL, a AKMS with folding stock and a Galil, yeah 2 of those. OK back to Earth...

Maybe a bad batch of ammo? My Tula eats Wolf HP's like candy.

Stephen King books?
Bleck. Come on man, get some higher class literature in there.

Could also be the firing pin. My Chinese SKS popped a few Wolfs at first. Then I switched the pin for a
spring loaded one. Have since put over 500 rounds through, no more popped primers.

Eh! the the annex shelf, there's only about 2000 books in that room. (There'd be a lot more but they'd be piling up on he floor and my wife would disown me.)

I did change to the Murray firing pin in my Yugo, but have left my Russian stock. It really isn't that big of a deal since I mainly shoot the Bear ammo and Golden Tiger which my SKS's have no problems with.
