Way to make women look bad.

But wait, there's more!

Fountain woman is facing felony charges: http://www.wfmz.com/berksnews/26558179/detail.html

Security guard fired for video leak: http://www.wfmz.com/berksnews/26558415/detail.html

It's all fun and games til someone gets wet.

It just gets better and better. You *knew* the guy was going to get fired. There is no way they were going to let him stay there, he is obviously not supposed to share the video with the world.

And from the sounds of it, this isn't the first idiotic thing she has done.

So she should die for this bit of inattention?

The actions of a single woman make women look bad only if one sees the world through the filter of stereotypical thinking.

So she should die for this bit of inattention?
She should for being toidal about it afterwards and blaming other people for her own inability to watch where she is going.
The actions of a single woman make women look bad only if one sees the world through the filter of stereotypical thinking.
Obviously. But being 1) ditzy and inattentive and; 2) blaming it on other people afterwards is exactly the sort of thing misogynists expect to see.

You said "Too bad she didn't drown..." If she had "drowned", then she would have died before having the opportunity to perform the action you now claim she should die for.

Yes, but I consider that their opinion, which is completely flawed, should not constrain my opinions about third parties. If I say "well, this person should not have done this and that because that group of people will interpret the event to confirm their own twisted view of the world", it seems to me that I even if in discursive terms I do not accept the views of that group, in practical terms I become a channel for their views when I form my opinion of the person who is in front of me.

Now, for the ironic part... I can't help but notice that statements suggesting that people should die just because they did something which society does not consider worthy of death is exactly the sort of thing people who are against all private gun ownership expect to see. (Note that while I disagree with your statement that she should have died, it is not because of the views of anti-gun folks that I hold this opinion.)

Apparently in the UK they've started padding street light poles because so many texters are walking into them and splitting their heads open:

If this woman's lawsuit is successful, we'll no doubt soon be greeted in all public places by WARNING! signs explaining that "buildings" are made of walls, stairs, pillars and other hazardous materials and that all shoppers agree to enter at their own risk.

It's about time we warn people about the dangers posed by solid objects!
