Question on Newspeople

I wrote up a piece about Rachel Maddow's show last week. I watch her because, for the most part, I enjoy her stuff. Do you think I'm just whistling in the wind when it comes to emails asking questions or at some point do they actually RESPOND via email?
To my knowledge, no one they've interview has been pro-gun. They don't even have to find an NRA member or conservative if they're uncomfortable with that! Look at all the liberal pro-RKBA people there are here. Hell, even the farthest left blog site I know of (and am a member of; Daily Kos) has a large contingent of pro-2A people.
So, do I just keep trying and hope that sooner or later they'll respond? Or is this just like trying to bail out the Titanic?

I vote keep trying. You may not get a direct response or convince Rachel to leave her position, but I think that she does listen.

You are young and still idealistic enough to think that you can have a say so I voted keep trying. Her ratings are probably up and you have as much of a chance in her answering an email from you as getting her to hop in the sack for an afternoon romp.

She listens to her producers.

eelj is exactly right. Find out who her producers are and approach them.

Rachel is very smart - Oxford University doesn't give their PhDs (at Oxford it's actually DPhil) to anyone. I'd keep e-mails short and to the point, bullet your arguments if needed but be brief and focused. Suggest guests who are liberal but support gun rights like Dan Baum (Harpers' article - HAPPINESS IS A WORN GUN) - research pro-gun liberals and give them names and credentials. Watching her you can tell she likes to spar with guests, so any guests need to be bright and verbal. These shows run on ideas, they always need fresh ideas and topics for shows because their network runs on ratings.

She has a staff of people who screen her emails. Its unlikely anything that is remotely progun would ever reach her.

Via Gawker...
"So Meghan McCain And Rachel Maddow Walk Into A NRA Convention...
When Rachel Maddow informed guest Meghan McCain that she and partner Susan Mikula had their first date at an NRA Ladies Day, McCain invited Maddow to be her date to the next NRA convention.

Maddow was gracious, saying. "Yes, I accept...Absolutely."
"I am going to hold you to that," replied McCain, and we hope she will: we'd love to hear Maddow's coverage of an NRA convention and, hell, why not bring Susan while she's at it?"

I suppose all that's left for them to do is make the travel and hotel arrangements.

My guess is that absolutely nothing gets through the insulation, particularly if it is in anyway critical of the talking head in question...unless of course it is from somebody who happens to 'be' somebody...but then, they would have the private, ever-so-secret, email address to begin with.
If you want to get their attention, write to their sponsors.

Apropos, I'd like to see her interview Gary Kleck and Don Kates, maybe David T. Harvey (who does the Of Arms & The Law blog) for good measure...
It's enough of a unique twist/hook she might consider it.
