Now, I'm begging you all to show the same type of respect to her that they show to their opponents. So, be respectful and don't laugh; bow your head properly and lament the unfortunate result of natural consequences.
A woman who was reportedly trampled to death during a riot inside the U.S. Capitol was reportedly obsessed with the QAnon conspiracy theory, according to her friends and family. A photo shows that she carried a Gadsden "don't tread on me" flag at a protest before the violent siege.

A growing corps of House Democrats, furious over the invasion of the Capitol on Wednesday by a mob inspired and encouraged by President Trump, is pushing to rapidly impeach the president a second time — hoping to force Trump from office even a few days early rather than allow him to leave on his own terms.

Removing Trump by constitutional means is a tall order for the 12 days remaining in his presidency, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has not made a formal determination to move forward with a second impeachment, even as she consulted Friday with the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff about curbing Trump’s ability to launch nuclear weapons. Outrage over Wednesday’s events has grown to the point that it could be impossible for Pelosi to ignore, prompting a rapid vote as soon as early next week, according to interviews with House Democratic members and aides.
Pelosi said Thursday that “Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment” if Vice President Pence did not act in concert with the Cabinet to remove Trump from office under the terms of the 25th Amendment. But she said she had no immediate plans to recall lawmakers to begin that process. “If he wants to be unique and be doubly impeached, that’s kind of up to him and his Cabinet as to whether he should stay in office,” she said. On Friday, she said in a letter to Democratic lawmakers: “If the President does not leave office imminently and willingly, the Congress will proceed with our action.” She did not specify what that action would be.
In the letter, she also described speaking to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, “to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike.” She further described Trump as “unhinged” and said lawmakers “must do everything that we can” to protect the nation from him.
Pelosi is expected to lead a noon conference call of House lawmakers Friday to discuss next steps. Several Democrats said Friday that an impeachment vote could come together as soon as Monday or Tuesday if the decision is made to move forward.
Two draft articles of impeachment have been circulated among House Democrats that cite Trump’s incitement of the mob and his delayed decision to encourage it to disperse as high crimes and misdemeanors necessitating removal.
Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) told “CBS This Morning” on Friday that he could “consider” any impeachment articles forwarded by the House. “He swore an oath to the American people to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution,” Sasse said. “He acted against that. What he did was wicked.”
Trump could still be impeached after he leaves office, most constitutional scholars say, which would have the effect of barring him from the presidency again. But there is a political barrier to proceeding with a Senate trial: the impending inauguration of Biden, and his need to rapidly confirm a Cabinet.

I question impeachment after a person no longer holds office. The purpose of impeach is removal, barring from holding future office is secondary. The process is moot once their term of office expires. WaPo didn't given the legal justifications.

A man photographed casually sitting with his foot on a desk in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office at the U.S. Capitol while a pro-Trump mob rampaged the halls of Congress was arrested Friday, law enforcement officials said. Richard Barnett, 60, of Gravette, Arkansas, was taken into custody in his home state on federal charges of entering and remaining on restricted grounds, violent entry and theft of public property, according to a Department of Justice official. Further details were not immediately available.

Images, apparently of Barnett, were splashed across social media as the deadly mayhem unfolded in the nation's capital on Wednesday, just as Democratic and Republican lawmakers convened to count the Electoral College votes. Members of Congress condemned the violence and rioting, which was preceded by a rally led by President Donald Trump who told his supporters to swarm the Capitol in defiance of the election results.

Also charged Friday in connection with the rioting at the Capitol was a state lawmaker from West Virginia, Republican Del. Derrick Evans, who had recorded and then deleted a video of himself joining the throng. A petition has been started for him to step down. As the chaos continued Wednesday afternoon, a New York Times reporter tweeted that he spoke with Barnett after his stunt in Pelosi's office. In a video, he boasts that he took a personalized envelope, but insisted he didn't steal it. "I left a quarter on her desk," he said.
Aides to Pelosi have said her office was vandalized on Wednesday, and confirmed that a laptop from a conference room had been stolen. The equipment, however, was used only for presentations, an aide said.
The FBI is requesting the public's help in identifying other Trump supporters who unlawfully invaded the Capitol for about four hours, with investigators poring over surveillance footage and social media posts. But the vast majority of the hundreds of people who stormed the building were allowed to leave without getting arrested, making the task of tracking them down exceedingly difficult.

So far, dozens of arrests have been made, including 41 people who were at the Capitol grounds late Wednesday and early Thursday, according to D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. this evening (January 7, 2021), United States Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick passed away due to injuries sustained while on-duty.

Officer Sicknick was responding to the riots on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol and was injured while physically engaging with protesters. He returned to his division office and collapsed. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The death of Officer Sicknick will be investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch, the USCP, and our federal partners.

Officer Sicknick joined the USCP in July 2008, and most recently served in the Department’s First Responder’s Unit.

The entire USCP Department expresses its deepest sympathies to Officer Sicknick’s family and friends on their loss, and mourns the loss of a friend and colleague.

We ask that Officer Sicknick’s family, and other USCP officers’ and their families’ privacy be respected during this time.

Here goes another to bite the dust.
Selfie during insurrection leads to arrest of Trump supporter — who has a Proud Boys tattoo

Authorities continued to make arrests on Friday of the insurrections who stormed the U.S. Capitol, after initially allowing the Trump supporters to leave the scene of their crimes.

"Federal authorities have arrested Proud Boy Hawaii founder and alt-right media personality Nick Ochs in connection with the deadly pro-Trump rampage through the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday," The Daily Beast reported Friday. "In an indictment unsealed in D.C. District Court, Ochs—who promotes his extremist opinions online as part of the 'Murder the Media' podcasting and Youtube crew—is charged with trespassing into a restricted building."

According to the FBI, Ochs has "Proud Boy" tattooed on his right arm.

"Multiple photos of Ochs partaking in the mayhem appeared online and in the press during and after the attack on the Capitol—including a selfie Ochs shared on his Twitter account smoking a cigarette in the building," The Beast reported. "The affidavit by a Federal Bureau of Investigations agent relies entirely on his own social media and an interview he did with CNN after the break-in, as well as his past public statements."

Since it doesn't look like the 25th Amendment or Impeach and Convict are going to happen, is the Orange Turd giving a blanket Pardon for all charges and crimes, to all those involved in the Capital Putsch ether directly or indirectly including himself.

I had that thought a yesterday, and talked myself out of it. Trump doesn't give a shit about them...Even the hardcores in the republican party leadership are condemning them as a bunch of nuts; which is why he condemned them. So Trump would probably see pardoning them (something you and I both know he'd like to do) as not helping his cause...and it always comes down to advancing his cause.

Basically for him I see...He can get more mileage out of not pardoning them than he can pardoning them.

But who knows...Maybe he does...Kinda hard to predict ALL the actions of a crazy man.

She was already within the building with a lot of insurgents and other LEO on her side of the door. She was attempting to enter through a broken window of barricaded interior door. I suspect she was entering one of those shelter in place locations and the LEO/suit who shot her was likely cleared to do so as the last line of defense in a fallback strategy. It was a very deliberate shot.

Twitter link (disclosure: you will see her be shot): https://twitter.com/thejaydenxander/sta ... 7899163648

Edited to add, as it's important to Bisbee's point, the reaction by the right to this shooting is that it was murder by the shooter. The woman was already inside the building and was actively breaching a barricaded area with non insurgents on the other side. She was white and there was a white mob behind her. Contrast the two attorneys (can't recall the location) man with an AR and woman with a handgun) over the summer on their porch as the BLM protest moved down the street celebrated as heroic.

This looks like another view of the shooting of Ashli Babbitt, it's close to the top. A guy yells "he's got a gun" and that this is going to get dirty get back. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... 7174186891,
