Coupled with an impeachment may come a surprise removal of Trump by the cabinet and Pence. When things fall apart they fall quickly and catch everyone by surprise. Think USSR.

The establishment has moved against Trump. For the first time we see him alone, naked and afraid, silenced in the WH with no one beside him. It must be hard for Trump to be a lame duck president with no friends in Washington DC or Wall St to kiss your ass.

Interesting setup. If pence and the cabinet act or doesn't act, pence could end up as president for a few days. Question is will he pardon trump and his cronies. Of course impeachment hinges on the senate again and their willingness to accept trumps responsibility in the recent insurrection. Not betting any money on either. They will likely just let the clock run out.

Win-Win.

If Pence and Co. don't remove, they are stained with Trumpism forever.

If House votes fast and Senate refuses to remove, they are stained with Trumpism forever.

No pretending. No BS. Forever.

I don't think they will remove Trump, but I didn't think the Georgia would turn blue, either.

I PREFER Pence to quickly invoke 25A...because it's immediate and cuts off Trump's pardon power as a hard stop. The time it would take for Trump to get it to a vote by both Houses would take more than the 12 1/2 days he has left.

4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
So, it IS a hard stop to Trump's power. Here's where the timing comes in:
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office UNLESS the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.
So the VP & the cabinet can delay for 4 days before sending their rebuttal of the President. That leaves 8 days.
Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.
So...Pence and Congress can run out the clock because they have 21 days to vote, and since 8 days after the first deadline, Biden will be inaugurated, and both Trump and Pence will be out of office.

This may be complicated, but they can sure as hell remove a threat if they want. Things are complicated unless you really, really want to do it.

I just want another impeachment to make McConnell and Pence both decide.

Yeah, Pelosi has nothing to lose. To right wingers she’s already the personification of the devil herself. Make McConnell and Pence defend Trump one more time, or not. They’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

To Trump and his minions the two dudes are already tainted even if they kill the second impeachment. To whatever’s left of the R party, they have enabled T for too long even if they finally impeach the president.
Glad that federal government is boring again.

25th amendment requires multiple someone's in the cabinet to have a spine... Has anyone see a spine in the White House in the past 4 years?
There is ZERO chance his cabinet is going to turn on him. This is a freaking pipe dream from CNN and Pelosi. It's NOT going to happen.

I agree, I don't see Pence as having the cojones to do it. He'd poison the waters with Trump and his followers, just in case he wants to run in 2024. Plus I don't see 8 cabinet secretaries who do it - Pompeo, Mnuchin, DeVos, Perdue, Ross, Azar ...the rest are acting. Impeach him that dents his ego some more.
