Ex-Swiss Banker Gives Data to WikiLeaks
By RAVI SOMAIYA and JULIA WERDIGIER
A former executive with Julius Baer said he had given WikiLeaks details of more than 2,000 individuals and companies that he contends engaged in criminal activity.

Wikileaks is performing the essential task that our national news corporations (being big businesses themselves) have been widely neglecting. I am glad that they are out there, and and I think that this is Exactly what the 1a and the freedom of the press is there to protect. The press is there toi inform the citizenry, not to protect the secrets of those who are profiting from them. The very idea of "state secrets" would have been dismissed out of hand by Franklin.

Agreed wholeheartedly. I just hope this doesn't compromise any legal proceedings against those bourgeois pigs.

I wish Elmer well in his legal battles, Swiss banking laws are very strict because the Swiss economy depends on banking. Of course we all eagerly await the revelations since it's hyped to be, "...politicians and “pillars of society” worldwide..."

Swiss Banking has always been tied to criminal activity. Frankly, I hope they're all exposed for what they are, those Nazi collaborating bastards are long over due for it.

Assange undermines his credibility by being so overtly anti-US. The big leak was a whole lot of nothing, but was embarrassing to the US. He would have been much better off releasing things that showed actual criminal or immoral activity, rather than a bunch of very low level diplomatic communications. The only thing he’s done thus far is embarrass the US. No great conspiracies were uncovered and nothing illegal.
Now there’s supposed to be some good stuff that would take down B of A, if there’s any truth to that, then THAT’s what Wikileaks should be about.
