Re: Want to mount a prism to my AR15, but offset 45 degres. Recommendations?

I think if you're going to put a magnified optic on a 45 degree mount I'd run something like the Primary Arms 3x prism... It has the ACSS reticle which makes it pretty fast to acquire close targets, especially if you run it with both eyes open. But it's meant to be a primary optic, so it's fairly heavy and will really throw off the balance of the gun... a 1x would make more sense in CQB, but any prism will have eye relief issues in the offset position. Thus you would probably be better off with a micro dot, but those are going to be 1x unless you throw a magnifier on there, which is... yeah. I know I'm beating a dead horse here but why not go with offset BUIS? Way faster, way lighter and surprisingly easy to transition to if you are a right handed shooter. Light guns are fast guns, and I don't see the need for anything above 3x on an AR even as a primary optic, but to each his own.

I'd like to mount a 1x or a 3x prism, but offset. I have a small offset rail right now with a base about 1.25", and I'm not sure that that's going to be big enough for the AR332, so I'm not sure what direction I should go with things. Any thoughts, suggestions?
As others have stated, this is a bad idea.

The QCB reticle needs open space to operate, your main scope will get in the way, almost certainly.

If you really want the flexibility, mount your Burris, and then sight it in, keeping track of where you mounted it. Get a quick detach for your Vortex and replace it with the Burris when you want to transition. I can't think of a single situation where the Burris mounted on a 45 degree offset wouldn't cause a lot more problems than it would solve.
