It has been said so many times before that it is troubling that in this country we have comedians talking reason and common sense while "serious" people act and sound like jesters.

Wow, I think that is the longest I've heard Stewart in a serious tone and looking for the right words. He's correct, don't generalize but celebrate the lives of those who perished in this tragic event.

I think at one point a 'real' journalist was complaining that Stewart was moving into news, and Stewart responded that his sphere (comedy) didn't move into theirs (news), their sphere moved into his. I really wish I could find the clip.

It was Rachel Maddow. She wasn't necessarily complaining but stating that they do similar things to which Stewart responded with that statement that he approaches things from a comedic perspective while supposedly the news uses a higher standard.

Check out Rachel's interview with Stewart.

That was truely fantastic, and by far the best commentary I've yet to hear on the subject. The people using this incident for political purpose to villify or verify, are reprehensible. This kook made it very easy for the extreme left and the extrem right to find ways to connect some dots to some sort of policy that they can use for villification and verification.

I can't even watch the news coverage without being brought to tears over the lives carelessly taken in this tragedy, and the thought that people are so calus in their extremist worlds are using this for political ends is so thoroughly disgusting. I've seen quotes of countless politicians talking about potential legislation one way or another. Unfortunatley I haven't seen ONE quote from a politician saying "I'm not going to dignify your question with an answer; I'm not going to defile the memory of these people by propping myself up for my constituency over this issue; I'm going to do what everyone else in America is doing, which is to grieve for the innocent lives that were lost." That's the kind of leadership we need in America, yet it's just not in existence anymore. The death of a innocent 9 year old girl is opportunity for our politicians; how thoroughly disgusting American politics has become.
