It's bad enough that she couldn't just say her condolences and leave it at that. And, it's not bad enough that she must take attention whoring to a new level without even saving face. But, at 3:14 she actually uses the term "Blood Libel"... when Giffords is JEWISH!
Seriously, I hate fueling the partisan machine, but this is just disturbing.
p.s.
How can we insert Vimeo code? The embedded code didn't work

WOW
Impressive... your Kung-Fu is quite strong. It took only 5 minutes! That is the sign of a good forum.
Awesome work!

I am not in a position where I can see the video, but I have seen some of the transcript and I agree. She is almost like Nixon in her inability to stop herself from carrying out feuds even if they will end up blowing up in her face. Her ignorance about history and her lack of intellectual curiosity is catching up with her. For her to think that it was appropriate to use that phrase to describe her situation shows just how either ignorant, or deluded she is.

I hope she does run for president, it'll be the greatest gift the repugs could give the dems.
Headline after 2012 election if Palin runs: "DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE WINS BY LARGEST LANDSLIDE MARGIN IN U.S. HISTORY!"

I still think she'll only splinter the conservatives into 2 parts with way less influence than a whole. I love this show.

My favorite bit:
America must be stronger than the evil we saw displayed last week. We are better than the mindless finger-pointing we endured in the wake of the tragedy. We will come out of this stronger and more united in our desire to peacefully engage in the great debates of our time, to respectfully embrace our differences in a positive manner, and to unite in the knowledge that, though our ideas may be different, we must all strive for a better future for our country. May God bless America.
So as the usual talking heads begin their "have you no decency?" routine aimed at talk radio and Republican politicians, perhaps we should turn the question around. Where is the decency in blood libel?

Palin's use of the "blood libel" accusation was an example of overreach. The analogy is certainly in keeping with a growing trend among many conservatives to see themselves as an oppressed minority -- just as the Jews have been throughout much of the last 2,000 years. But it can strike Jews as a kind of expropriation of their own painful history, and an attempt to make a false historical equivalency -- Christian conservatives in 21st century America are not Jews in 12th century England.

I wonder does anybody here believe that this dummy knew what she was saying when she used the term "blood libel" wouldn't that require her to have actually read history? I think that she heard its use and thought it sounded kind of neat.

That was my point that there was no way she knew it. I had to look it up.

As did I. I had heard the phrase but really had no idea what it was in reference to.
I agree, eelj, she just jumped on something she heard someone else say.

I agree. Having been part of the church that instigated the actual blood libel, I had been taught about that in classes about the history of the church (amazingly liberal and honest considering it was taught by a priest and a sister). Anyway, I too doubt that Palin really understands what she is actually saying. She is so willfully ignorant and lazy that she would not know about it. She is so arrogant that she doesn't think she needs to. This is what makes her dangerous. She has a charisma that appeals to her idiot base. Her handlers feed her these coded words, and she delivers like the news models on Fox.
As I said before, she reminds me of a mixture of the worst aspects of the Republican party. Reagan's stupidity and jingoism and Nixon's paranoia and victim complex.

This is pretty sweet.
This video shows her handlers censoring her facebook feed in real time:

I was aware of the term because I had read Tuchman and Durant among other historians, at least she didn't start talking about "well poisoners".
