Best line:
"I am not worried about the environment," says Mr Evans. "It's Him up there who looks after the environment."

Wow. Just....
I for one had my fill of gas guzzlers: Drove a '67 Cadillac and a '71 Ford Maverick V8 (honestly, that was a fun one!). But at less than 13mpg, they weren't THAT fun. Right now we're really keen on getting a Mazda2 since a few co workers have bought a few. 40mpg real world, amazingly stiff chassis for such a cheap car and you get a ton of factory standard for $14k. My fiance loves it, and she hates driving or anything fun in cars
Me? I'm still holding out for my 120mpg Genuine Scooter Company Stella 4T or a Royal Enfield Bullet FI.
Either way, leave the gas guzzlers to the fundamentalists who think the environment will care for itself. They are detached from reality, so it's only natural for them to drive overweight couches on wheels that also detach them from the road and rob them of the REAL fun of driving!

My summer vehicle gets high 30s when it comes to MPG. My winter vehicle...not so much. Then again, a non 4 wheel drive vehicle in the UP winter just really sucks.

I mentioned this in a thread a couple months back: I work with a guy that believes that sea levels are rising because of the number of ships in the water … he drives a Ford F250 Superduty, crew cab, long bed … it's a diesel and still gets only 15mpg.

Damn. He MUST be abusing it. My father has a Cummings turbo diesel full size and he's doing 25 on the highway, and that thing is HEAVY! Then again he's also a huge fan of WVO and biofuel when he can get it.
As far as Mustangs, you can do way better than the old GT500's. The new V6 2011 Mustang gets 300hp, and still pulls 30mpg highway. That's more than the original V8 GT500, and frankly at this point in the game where gas WILL be going back up to $5/gallon this year (Mark this thread... I predicted it!) that is where I'd be investing my money. Vintage autos are awesome, but at some point you have to be practical if the car sees more action than a few weekends a year.

My V10 superduty is rated for 10 and the way I drive 5. Can you say -fwhfwhfwhfwhfwhfwhfwhfwhfwhfwhfwhfwhfwhfwh? I want a super chip! That'l make it 6 and 3.

I drive a '97 gray Chevy Lumina. 26 mpg highway and 18 city. Not great like a more modern car but, eh whatever it's all I could afford.

A v-10?? What the hell do you pull with that truck? A house?
I have a variety of cars with a variety of gas mileage pros and cons. When these start falling apart I will probably buy a hybrid something. Note that 'falling' apart is a pretty loose definition to me, my vehicular needs are pretty utilitarian.

The Cummings mill is an inline 6, so that helps generate torque without the huge fuel nosh, and that turbo more than makes up for any lag. Stand on that accelerator and that WILL get going real quick!

Duramax Dually. 20mpg unloaded on the freeway. 16 around town. 14-15 with my 3500lb camper in the bed and averaged 13mpg with the camper and an 8000lb sailboat behind it from Ca to Va.
Oh, its quieter and will pull a Cummins backward! ( I currently own one of those as well)

I would love to put a 4BT Cummins in my Tacoma...sadly, the body/drivetrain modifications are a bit pricey.
But getting damn near 50mpg would be pretty cool, not to mention the WVO possibilities.
