When Gloves Dry

1
So I’ve finally gone to the range...was waiting for my brother to be able to go. We’ve gone twice in weeks period. It’s an outdoor range and it’s starting to heat up here in Fla but still nice to be outside while shooting. The first day we went my hands were sweating and I couldn’t get a good grip on my pistol so I decided to try my brother’s gloves. What a difference. So I decided to get a pair for our second outing. What’s nice is I can take them off and shoot a magazine or two and my hands still stay dry. They’re nice too for when the gun starts to get hot. Anyone else wear gloves?

Good call on Mechanix. I've worn them for the opposite reason: too cold. I had an outdoor class at 28°F.

What were you shooting? Rifle/pistol/shotgun? How was the articulation in the gloves for you when working the trigger? Anything you'd do differently next time?

I have several pair. Use them for mountain biking mostly, and also some for work and cold weather shooting. The ones I shoot in all have a hole in the end of the support hand thumb from blowback out of the revolver. Don't even notice it without gloves, or with gloves for that matter until after the fact, but that little bit of extra thumb gets taken right off.

I got a couple pairs of Pig full dexterity tactical Alpha gloves. The business end of my copperhead gets quite warm after a few of those 30rd magazines. They’re really nice.
To learn, you must be willing to challenge what you currently hold to be true.

If I were still in my home state of Michigan, I’d be doing the same regarding the cold. Unfortunately I only own a pistol right now - SW MP 2 9mm - but I’m working on that. My brother has the fun stuff, which is why he bought his gloves. He bought XL, but I bought L so they’re a little more snug, but still have dexterity & proper circulation. My pistol trigger guard has generous space for finger with & without gloves. They’re thin enough & fit the fingers so that I can feel the trigger. You’re questions made me take a bunch of mental notes on what I need to pay attention to next time I’m at the range. I wasn’t working on accuracy the two days I went (and it showed) but next time I go I’m gonna shoot with & without them on to see if I need to make any adjustments. Prior to the pandemic I was really working on grip & have been doing that with dry fire bullets while at home. But in the sun my hands were sweating so bad I couldn’t make it through one mag before I was wiping my hands. With the gloves I can get the grip I’ve been practicing on. My pistol has a pretty aggressive grip to begin with, which is good because I’m not wearing gloves 99% of the time. I will say I wish there was a store that carried all there models so I can compare...that’s what sucks about online shopping. My pair is the “original tactical” or something but the make some with more sensitive finger tips, etc. I dig them though.
