I see on another thread that a couple people here have Stoeger Coach Guns. I have been tempted to pick one up, but never have.
How are they, as far as reliability, and all-around quality? Any reason to avoid them?
Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
2Mine is too new to tell about reliability, but the Uplander (same thing - longer barrels) that I had twenty years ago was great.

Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
4I too have been tempted but resisted when I realized that I had no use for one and would probably never shoot it.
But a part of me still wants one.

Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
6Indeed. I probably only “need” three guns but I NEED more like 25.

Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
7I've got the 1878 Colt (reproduction) hammer coach gun, and I use it for cowboy action. I can't weigh in on the Stoeger specifically, but the coach gun is pretty fun. Granted, it really only has a small number of uses, and I don't get to ride security for the stage coaches anymore. But, if you want it to blast milk jugs and coke bottles from 20 feet, there's really nothing quite like it!

8So much this. I feel everyone should have a coach gun. Just like everyone should have a 10/22.Bucolic wrote: Fri May 22, 2020 12:26 pm Indeed. I probably only “need” three guns but I NEED more like 25.

And a S&W revolver.
And a Blackhawk.
And...

Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
10I originally bought mine back when I was doing SASS, but it's actually a nice little piece. Accuracy wasn't bad for a shorter barrel, especially with featherweight loads.
Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
11Had one. Was heavy. After years in the safe, traded it for a semi auto for my 16 yr old daughter to shoot trap. LGS paid me what I had paid for it ten or more years earlier.

Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
12One lgs in town used to stock them, both the regular and supreme models but no longer in their inventory. The regional chain shows them on their website, but none in stock. Stoeger is owned by Beretta, they also make semi-autos.

Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
13Coach guns are fun to shoot... about a handful of times. They make targets blow up when you unload both barrels at the same time which is really funny in a perverse sort of way. They aren’t particularly good or useful guns to own. They are novelty guns at best. My .02 cents (having owned one... meh).

Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
14I rarely shoot mine. I found it kind of punishing on the shoulder after a while. A SxS is a lot simpler to learn how to load, unload, and check condition compared to a pump or auto shotgun, so maybe it's a good starter weapon for someone inexperienced. On the plus side, my Stoeger 12 ga can shoot any length shell, even the low recoil shorty, with no worries about improper cycling.Bisbee wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2021 11:46 pm Coach guns are fun to shoot... about a handful of times. Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
15I want one - but just for Cowboy action shooting which I'd eventually like to get into. However, they are expensive right now so, I'll wait a bit. The thought of using it for anything other than that niche isn't pleasant. (I have a lightweight Turkish 12 gauge, single shot and it's punishing to shoot.)

Re: Stoeger Coach Gun
21Bought one on GB about a month ago..exactly what I was looking for. Stoeger Condor Outback over/under, stainless, 20g.
Shot it 3 times(maybe 250 rounds)..reliable, accurate..pretty easy to find 20g ammo..nice that it can use 2 3/4 and 3inch shells.
