I don't think I'll ever again order anything from Palmetto State Armory... First they had Glen Beck narrating their radio commercial, now this:

I'm afraid we'd all be hard pressed to find anyone in the assault rifle business who are not Glenn Beck fans.

Eh? I'm sure all those 70 year olds still working away in decrepit, ex state owned factories, cobbling together Kalashnikovs and Saigas in Romania, Bulgaria and Russia have never heard of this Glenbekovich.

I wonder if we could get enough pre-sales to do a group buy of some LGC lowers? I know that lots of manufacturers will do custom engraving. Anybody interested? I don't even care for ARs but I'd buy one.

First off, FriqueNationale. You're my hero for the new year.
Second, I second Amir. But since we're the LGC wouldn't it make more sense to do an AK?

I'd be in for an ak receiver but will have to check mass law on building rifles from kits... I seem to remember theres some strange rule about it.

That is a great idea, but one problem is the essential difference between the AR and AK platforms. AR lowers can be assembled from parts with just a few hand tools, and an AR upper can be added easily. With an AK we'd pretty much have to go with a barreled action, due to the fact that a shop press is needed to install the barrel to the receiver/trunnion, as well as the gas block and front sights. There are a lot of rivets or screws that are needed too along with some fairly specialized tools.
I'm sure that we could find someone who has the setup for doing all of this (in fact I know someone in Orlando that does this as a hobby), but we would need to find someone with the proper tax paperwork to commercially manufacture these, and then convince them to work with the LGC to do so. It is doable though. Another option is to buy unconverted Saiga rifles (which are relatively inexpensive), convert them, and engrave them ourselves. We could probably do this with WASRs or some of the AK74s available too, but they aren't Russian, ya know? There is a process that uses an old cell phone charger, a vinyl stencil, and a cotton ball that will engrave easily. I saw a thread on arfcom about how to do this, and there were some really nice pics of some beautiful artwork.

Maybe Nodak Spud for AK receivers?

Nodak is a good AK receiver. You'll need a 12/20ton press like this one to do 90% all the work including rivets. Jigs for the press are necessary more or less depending on whether you want to bend your own receivers out of flats. A Drill press would be nice, and out of flats you need to weld the inner rails for the bolt carrier.

I would be in for a completely built rifle. If we go down that path just let me know.

Whatever we decide to pursue, we'll need to get Mark's approval fist. There are copyrights involved.

Since we are buying in bulk does that mean cheaper? An AK receiver would be very enticing. I would keep it stashed away in case I run across a nice parts kit.

I guess I need to know more details. I am ok with engraving it with some sort of LGC motto type thing.
Someone come up with some details and we can go from there.
Yeah, I finished reading it.... just making 2 different posts. Relax, nancy

OK, ok, Mary. Next time I'll give you a bit more time, but only like a minute... and just this once!

I'd be up for an AR lower or a complete AK (or a complete 1911 for that matter.)
Put me on this list!

I contacted my favorite AR manufacturer to see if they could give group/bulk buy discounts on AR lowers, with a logo engraved on the magwell. When they respond, I will send the numbers off to mark. I'm assuming that the logo wanted would be the LGC logo?
EDITED:
They told me that group buy discounts start at 10 lowers ordered and that the logo fee (per lower) might be waived depending on the complexity of the logo.
Do we have a number of people interested so far?
