Re: An Ode to Cheap .22 Handguns
28Anyone have an opinion on the Ruger Ranger? I was considering a Heritage Rough Rider but saw that for about $50 more I could get the Ruger...
Re: An Ode to Cheap .22 Handguns
29From everything I've seen they're better. Better lock up, better quality control, and they also come with a real warranty and not the Taurus worthless bullshit warranty, though not sure how much that really matters to you on such a cheap gun. If the Wrangler was around when I bought by Rough Rider I might have bought the Ruger instead. Hoping they eventually do a 9 or 10 shot model that still comes in under $250, but we'll see.Maccabee wrote:Anyone have an opinion on the Ruger Ranger? 31Bought a Wrangler in basic black, like $180 OTD.
Worked flawlessly, like most Rugers. Alas:
Went back to the factory, good group but 4" to the left at 5 yds.
Didn't want to snap off the front sight trying to get zero.
The rep knew all about that when I called them. Free ship, even!
Musta' been a rough day at the CNC. Will inform when it comes back.

34Cool! I hope everything works as it should and you enjoy your Ruger as much as I’m enjoying my Rough Rider.

36My groups at 25’ were a little high and to the left, but I’m pretty sure that’s due to my grip and not the gun.

How does it look in person?
