When your eyes suck and your glasses aren't on, red dots are indeed more accurate than the blurirons.lurker wrote: Thu Mar 11, 2021 9:40 pm yeah, most likely. i should build a list of their usernames so i can go back and check on them later.

in my limited experience, red dots are good for quicker target acquisition because you don't actually have to line up the sights. but in terms of accuracy, no better than iron sights. so their value depends on how you intend to use them.
Me too, let's my old eyes drill holes...Elmo wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2020 5:45 pm I was an old school iron sights shooter for years, but starting shooting a red dot on a PCC and liked it. Now I've got one on my competition pistol (CZ SP01) and am getting used to it.
Finding the dot is a real issue at first -- the pistol indexes differently. But is should be cured with a few hours of dry fire practice. Once past that hump, the advantages should prevail.

My Sig P320 RX Compact came with an integrated Romeo 1 red dot and raised tritium iron sights so you can use them if you prefer.tonguengroover wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 5:04 pm I cannot wrap my head around using one on my carry guns. More bulk, things to get hung up on and how to find a decent holster, specially ones with a light as in the one above.
Seen a couple guns ready made for the red dots like the Maxx-9 and Walther PDP compact that I'm interested in buying.
I think I'd like one for the nightstand with a light. But not for carry. I'm just too used to open sight.featureless wrote: Sat Feb 19, 2022 11:58 pm Since posting in this thread 2 years ago... My carry gun. CZ 75D with a Holosun 507k adds nothing to the print potential and works a treat with my aging eyes with or without the glasses on.

Ok I read about that. Someone said to heat it just to soften it up and bend it in a little.YankeeTarheel wrote: Wed Mar 30, 2022 11:29 am I have the Romeo Zero that came with my P320. My only problem with it is the protective cover for storage is a piece of crap that always falls off.
Check out theHolosun 407k or 507k. Mine above is the 507k. Around $300. Price is not great, not terrible. Performance is great.tonguengroover wrote: Wed Mar 30, 2022 11:23 am OK after reading this thread over again I am interested in getting a red dot for my Ruger Max 9 since it optic ready and eyes are definitely going. The only other red dot I have is on my AR556
I just don't want to spend as much on the optic as the cost of the gun. Do I have to? lol
So here are the options;
Crimson Trace® 1500 Series Hex™ Wasp™ Holosun 407K Holosun 507K
JPoint™ MRD Shield RMS Shield RMS2 Shield RMSc
Shield RMSw Shield SMS Shield SMS2 Shield SMSc
Sig Romeo Zero Sightmark® Mini Shot A-Spec M3 Swampfox Sentinel
I do not know. I don't have access to outdoor ranges and don't want to scare the shit out of my neighbors checking it out in my back yard.tonguengroover wrote: Wed Mar 30, 2022 11:50 amOk I read about that. Other than that is it good in the sun? Thats some thing I am worried about.
Cool, I keep going back an forth between that one and the Sightmark. The devils in the details as they say.
