SOCIAL MEDIA INFORMATION RE: RED FLAG LAW PROTESTS

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has been inundated with calls and social media messages from citizens expressing concern about a police response in the Town of Carmel. The incident was widely reported to be a law enforcement effort to seize firearms under “Red Flag” laws. This information is incorrect. The law enforcement response and subsequent arrest was related to a domestic violence investigation. The citizen involved is safe and in police custody.

The incredibly high volume of phone calls, emails and social media messages has overwhelmed our systems and shutdown our ability to communicate with our community. While we respect the right of all citizens to inquire about law enforcement activity, we urge you to respect the needs of our community and restore our ability to serve them. Thank you.

Some not with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department have been stating it was a red flag raid.
WhiskeyWarrior556 falls victim to New York’s red flag laws (American Thinker link)
On Friday, police showed up to a young man’s workplace and tried to arrest him over social media posts reported to them by an old army buddy of the 28-year-old Afghanistan veteran. This man, known as Alex and popular on Instagram under the handle of WhiskeyWarrior556, slipped out of the back door, hurried home to check on his family where he found out police had already forced themselves into his home and confiscated his legal firearms after threatening his wife with calling child protective services to remove her newborn child. Alex then barricaded himself inside his own attic, unarmed. Law enforcement officers followed him, blocked off the road to all traffic and a seven-hour standoff began.
WhiskeyWarrior556 finally gave in when police threatened once again to take his infant daughter from his and his wife’s custody and according to police, he was peacefully detained. Though charged with owning the “high capacity magazine,” no charges have been filed as a result of the standoff.

What transpired on Saturday was exactly what advocates of red flag laws have asked for. A militarized police force, ignoring due process completely, confiscated the property and the civil rights of a U.S. citizen because of nothing more than the opinion of an associate.
Internet is abuzz. I am not familiar with this character.

I wonder what kind of social media posts get your old army buddy to call the cops.

So what was it: A domestic violence case or someone dropping a dime on someone who made them "nervous"?

Some of the stuff I've seen on other gun forums constantly advocate killing Dems and hint a lynching journalists. How is that not any worse?

Too much to wade through on if it was a red flag call or originally a domestic violence call.

So he's a wife beater and a thief, and now he has a felony and will lose his gun rights.

I hope I'm not supposed to be upset or outraged by this happening to him, if that's what it is...

It looks like a bunch of Nazi douchebags trying to stir up trouble around this situation. This is exactly what a foreign actor would do on social media (or a bunch of Nazis trying to troll the PD).

There is nothing to show this person was affiliated with those social media Nazis.

try to stay informed, but at the end of the day, be honest, don't feed hate, "do no harm", as the wiccans say.
go with your gut.

The goal of disinformation is to eliminate faith that truth actually exists.

Which is all the worst with how many people jumped on the bandwagon including prominent advocates/content creators.

Probably not. He's the wrong demographic for Atomwaffen. Too old. He was reaching out for any help that he could get, they saw it on other conservative channels, and were trying to get mobilized but the police ended it before they got into gear.

This.

I hope the guy does serious jail time. He has done a disservice to the firearms community with his nonsense.
