According to the Oldham County Sheriff's Department, that boom came from a gunshot in the apartment above.

"The oldest was right there and the bullet just missed her head," Todd said.

According to the incident report, the apartment belonged to Kentucky State troopers Landon Terry and Dustin Gross who just recently moved in.

"They're state troopers. They're suppose to be protecting us and they're shooting at us," Todd said.

Todd attempted to knock on their door after the shooting, but there was no answer. Her son then called 911.

According to the report, the troopers told sheriff's deputies, "(They) were just moving in and had taken the magazine out of the rifle. (They) thought it was empty and the trigger was pulled and the gun went off."

When asked if they had notified their sergeant at KSP they told the deputies, "We are getting ready to go out."
Just so many things wrong here. Mishandling a gun, not checking on the victims, failure to report to sergeant. These guys are still in training, and as far as I'm concerned they need to be booted out of the training program over this. It's simply too much.
