Ardkeen: Guns and ammunition seized during house raid
Twenty four guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition have been seized in County Down in a joint operation involving police, National Crime Agency (NCA) and Border Force officers.
The raid came after a semi-automatic rifle and two hand guns were intercepted at a parcel hub in England.

Border Force officers discovered the AR-15 rifle and hand guns at the premises in the Midlands earlier this month.

Well, I suppose the only thing to say at this point is: Northern Ireland now has 24 less firearms. Yay?

The National Crime Agency (NCA) described the weapons haul as huge but it is not believed to be linked to paramilitaries.
My first though was paramilitaries - IRA or Unionist stashes. Police (PSNI) carry 24/7 and residents can own pistols. 24 isn't much of a collection on this side of the pond but every country is different.

"Can" own pistols. It's a high bar for that part of the world, still have to go through tons of hoops, just don't get some crippled English pistol with some metal welded to it.

I wonder how any guns are still hidden, from the “troubles” in Northern Ireland years ago?

Reminds me of a great movie "The Guard" set in western Ireland where a kid finds an IRA stash, very funny. Even though branches of the IRA and Unionist militias were supposed to have turned in all their weapons, but there could very well be depots undeclared or discovered.

Just like Americans giving up their weapons. It would be the trash broken ones. I'd imagine there's a boat load or two of full auto Tommy guns somewhere.

Yup, bury them in bogs and they become useless fast unless they are sealed against moisture. The paramilitaries bought some from Eastern Europe, Serbia and other Balkan countries and the Middle East. The paras used to be into robbery to get their weapons, other things too. Two good British series about international gun trafficking, "The Night Manager" and "McMafia".

Now this thread is making me want an AR-18. The black balaclava can come later.
