At least 10 injured, 2 killed in mass shooting at party near Greenville
Initial reports suggested the party was part of Texas A&M Commerce homecoming, but law-enforcement and university officials had not verified that. Police scanner traffic did mention Texas A&M Commerce students.

The scanner traffic, posted at heavy.com, indicated that multiple victims had been shot at a location on U.S. Highway 380 that matches the address of the Party Venue. A “Twerk or Treat” costume party had been promoted for Saturday night at the venue, which is described as an 8,000-square-foot facility.
Ethan Derek Preas, director of campus operations and safety at Texas A&M Commerce, said in an email that the event where the shooting was reported was not sponsored by the university.

More info on the shooting.
Two people are reported dead and at least 14 injured after gunfire broke out at a late-night party in Greenville, Texas, meant to celebrate Texas A&M University-Commerce’s homecoming, according to the Hunt County Sheriff's Office.

As of early Sunday morning, no suspects were in custody, but officials believed there was a single shooter using a handgun. Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks told reporters law enforcement was having difficulty locating a suspect since there are no surveillance cameras at the venue where the shooting occurred. He said he didn’t believe the public was in any danger.

Buddy Oxford, chief deputy of the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, held a news conference just before 5 a.m. where he said there’s not yet a description of the shooter. There were roughly 750 people at the event, which officials said may have been linked to a fraternity. About 20 people have already been questioned about the shooting, Meeks said, though many questioned what they saw and were unable to provide a detailed description of the suspect.

“It appalls me that, as many folks that were there, [they] have not been able to give us a better description of this shooter,” Meeks told reporters during a news conference.

While Oxford did not have information regarding the severity of injuries, Medical City Plano spokeswoman Melissa Sauvage told The Associated Press that the hospital received three victims of the shooting. All were in critical condition.

The party was about 18 miles from the A&M-Commerce campus and wasn’t a university-sanctioned event, Oxford said. Greenville is about 50 miles northeast of Dallas.

According to The Dallas Morning News, video posted online showed some of the carnage, with at least one victim receiving CPR and others screaming in the background.

“Heidi and I are lifting up in prayer those who were killed and injured in last night's shooting at an off-campus party at Texas A&M Commerce @tamuc,” tweeted U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz. “We are closely monitoring this developing story & urge those in the area to heed local warnings from officials.”

A vigil for one of two men killed in a mass shooting at a weekend Texas college homecoming party was interrupted by gunfire on Sunday night.

People gathered to remember 23-year-old Kevin Berry at a Dallas park heard multiple shots around 8 p.m., sending mourners running for cover, according to local reports. No one was hit, but several vehicles were damaged.

Chilling video taken by a local reporter captured some of the gunfire as people screamed in the distance. KXAS-TV, a local NBC affiliate, reported that its news vehicle was hit by several shots.

"Active shooting at a vigil tonight for one of the #TexasAMCommerce victims. As the vigil wrapped up, people began shooting. Multiple shots. Our news unit was hit at least 3 times. I have not seen anyone injured. It’s possible some took themselves to the hospital."

"Authorities said more than 750 people were attending the off-campus party in Greenville, not part of the school’s sanctioned homecoming festivities, when a man armed with a handgun entered the building and opened fire just before midnight.

The shooter initially chose his targets, investigators said, but eventually began shooting people at random. Of those who were injured, at least eight were shot, according to various reports. Others reportedly were hurt escaping.

Police had no new information to share about the investigation on Monday, Sgt. Jeff Haines of the Hunt County Sheriff’s Department said.

Dallas police made no arrests. An investigation is ongoing, a police spokesperson told HuffPost in an email.

Authorities also continued to search for a gunman in Saturday’s attack at a party celebrating Texas A&M University-Commerce’s homecoming. Neither a motive nor a suspect has been identified.

In addition to the two deaths, the shooting injured 14 people. Four of the shooting victims were reported in critical condition on Sunday. The university said four students wounded in the attack have been released from hospitals.
