Concealed Carry Permit Holders Killed 1,335 Since 2007
“Concealed carry permit holders are supposed to be the ‘good guys’ with guns,” said VPC in a statement. “In reality, far too many permit holders are a direct threat to public safety.”

Thirty-five of the incidents were fatal mass shootings as defined by federal law (three or more victims killed), resulting in the deaths of 167 victims. At least 24 law enforcement officers have died at the hands of concealed carry killers since May 2007.

VPC Legislative Director Kristen Rand states, “Concealed carry killers continue to claim innocent lives at a shocking pace. At the same time, research shows that states with lax concealed carry laws have higher rates of violent crime. Contrary to the false claims made by the gun lobby, allowing random people to carry guns endangers public safety.”

Texas has had concealed carry since 1995, less than 1% of concealed carry license holders have committed felonies since 1995.

That Is some inflammatory reporting there. Click through to the "study" where it states 90 percent are suicide and most of the rest are domestic murder-suicide, neither of which have anything to do with carrying a firearm nor represent a threat to the public.

CCW holders in Texas have a lower crime rate than cops. If cops get to have guns (and they do even in CA), then why shouldn't I?

Sometimes, just a tiny bit of context really helps. I live in the "measurements" world all day every day.

Let's assume their base facts are correct.

The oft quoted figure is that there are about 17,000 non-suicide deaths by guns every year.

In the 12 years since 2007, that would be more than 200,000 total gun deaths. (Non suicide)

That makes CCW gun deaths about 0.65% of all gun deaths. Currently about 5% of the US has a concealed permit:
https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm ... id=3463357

So it looks like the frequency of CCW killers is 0.65% of all gun killers, but the population of CCW people is 5%.

I really don't mind people have an opinion and a POV - but this is either incompetence or deliberately omitting context.

There's just your ordinary CC criminals and then your regular CC law abiding citizen, then there's the CC permited people. They seem to be mixing them statistics up.

We seem to live in an era of fake news and propaganda. Sucks.

Almost like they reached a conclusion first and fit the data around that

Exactly! A decade didn't provide conclusive numbers, so let's expand it another 2 years.

That is garbage reporting and it's disturbing because it's affiliated with John Jay College of Criminal Justice which is part of the City University of New York (CUNY). CUNY is a publicly funded university and college system. New York City is a different world, we have an example in the WH.

I would agree on this statement in the article.

Random people who are not familiar with handling a gun worry me. I think the odds of getting accidently shot by a newb gun owner is higher than one that has had some classes and tested for a permit. So, yeah, states like AZ where any joe blow can buy a gun and walk around concealing it worries me a little. More than the criminal element.

What exactly is a "lax CC law"?

By definition, states with any CC law probably aren't "lax" about it.

Nice way to twist numbers to fit an agenda. Numbers don't lie, but people do.

It's "research" like this as to why I always look for multiple corroborating sources

Sorry, but anything coming out of New York especially New York City is tainted and biased. Probably paid for by bloomberg. No further comment needed.
