Trump blames Rick Perry for the Ukraine call

Energy Secretary Rick Perry was blamed by President Donald Trump for the phone call with Ukraine that has resulted in impeachment hearings, according to a bombshell new report by Axios.

“President Trump told House Republicans that he made his now infamous phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the urging of Energy Secretary Rick Perry — a call Trump claimed he didn’t even want to make,” Axios reported. “Trump made these comments during a conference call with House members on Friday, according to 3 sources on the call.”

One source paraphrased Trump’s comments on the call.

“Not a lot of people know this but, I didn’t even want to make the call. The only reason I made the call was because Rick asked me to. Something about an LNG [liquified natural gas] plant,” was how the statement was recalled.

Trump also reportedly warned that more would be coming out about the former Texas governor’s role in the call.

Minority Leader McCarthy (R-CA), Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) were all reportedly on the call.

Other administration officials caught up in the scandal include Vice President Mike Pence, Attorney General Bill Barr, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney.

As much as I have not liked Perry and he is a doofus. In this case I feel sorry for him. He is about the only Cabinet member left that was confirm by the Senate and hadn’t had a real scandal. As Secretary of Energy he was trying to get a LNG port in the Ukraine so we could export the LNG to Europe for sale thus giving Europe less need for and dependency on Russian natural gas.

Trump is going to blame anybody and everybody for his FUBAR phone call except himself because in his teeny weenie mind he doesn’t make or made any mistakes. He believes he is more perfect than Jesus Christ.

Don't feel sorry for Perry. It's like feeling sorry for Jeff Sessions. In any other reality than today's dystopian nightmare, Perry is a villain. He and his coal & oil buddies are enemies against those of us who breathe air and want clean water.
It is an unfortunate human failing that a full pocketbook often groans more loudly than an empty stomach.

Next it will be that Zelenskiy called him begging to give Trump the info on Biden and he refuse to take it. :roflmao:

It seems he may be more involved in the Ukraine than first reported, but still not in the Biden fiasco.
Secretary of Energy Rick Perry was more involved in President Donald Trump’s extortion plot to pressure Ukraine for dirt on Joe Biden than previously known. The former Texas governor, according to Politico, may not have “explicitly called on Ukrainian officials to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter,” but he worked to pressure that embattled country’s leaders to root out corruption.

Perry also “played an active role in the Trump administration’s efforts to shape decisions by the newly elected government of President Volodymyr Zelensky,” and “pushed for Ukraine’s state-owned natural gas company Naftogaz to expand its board to include Americans.”

Two of those Perry sought to install on that board are “long-time energy executives based in Perry’s home state of Texas.”

Perry replaced Vice President Mike Pence, attending the inauguration of Ukraine President Zelensky, which sent a warning shot to the new president that he needed to play ball with the Trump administration in order to receive support. That support included $400 million in congressionally-approved military aid. Ukraine is fighting Russia, which illegally annexed Crimea, a portion of Ukraine.

He was labeled “was one of the administration’s ‘three amigos‘ on Ukrainian policy, along with Kurt Volker, the U.S. special representative for the Ukraine conflict, and Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union.”

The Energy Secretary reportedly will submit his resignation effective before year’s end.
