UMass Medical students join SAFE call for gun violence prevention
The call to action was led by a network of health care providers across the United States called Scrubs Addressing the Firearms Epidemic, or SAFE.
It's right in their name. The "epidemic" is not violence or even death; it's "firearms."
The goal of Monday’s rallies was to focus attention on the role health care professionals are taking in attacking the problem and promoting funding of research on firearm violence prevention; advocating that firearm safety education be included in comprehensive health plans for patients; developing materials to help clinicians incorporate firearm safety education to keep families healthy; and understanding the crippling legal limitations on gun violence research by government agencies, according to information from SAFE.
I wonder what their idea of "firearm safety education" is.
“In my six deployments as a flight surgeon to Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11, I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects that assault weapons have on human bodies,” Dr. Winslow said in a news release. “These are weapons designed for the battlefield. Easy access to these same types of weapons in the U.S. has resulted in dozens of horrific mass shootings — and handguns cause the deaths of at least 20 veterans each day by suicide.”

I’m so close to voting for the assenfureher at this point I may have to have Klown come over and tie me to a chair next November. And I’m so far to left about every other thing that I think Warren is a corporate shill.

There were multiple things wrong with the last quote. My understanding is that most mass shooters use a .223, not a large caliber rifle. And handguns didn't cause death by suicide, the person used a handgun to commit suicide.

I won't ever be discussing firearms with my physician. If he asks me, I'll just tell him what I keep in my home is private and none of his business and that he can write my response down as "no answer". Or maybe I'll just say, "I prefer not to answer that question. Do you have firearms in your home?"

Here in Texas my doctor doesn't even ask he just assumes his patients have guns in their home.
