Who else is getting tired of the hype of 9/11

Am I just becoming cynical after all these years. Every years we have this raging whine about 9/11 with the like of Rudy making an ass of himself and the president going on about the hero's, the reading of the names of those that died tat day. We never did this for Pearl Harbor. There was a quiet ceremony each year at the naval base but most of the country ignored it. Especially for the right wing 9/11 has become the "blood flag" for those "True American Patriots".

I have been told by Jewish friends when someone close dies you're allowed to mourn for one year then you are to get on with your life. I don't know how true that is but it works, it is time we need to move on. That is my opinion.

Of course we had the police Asses making bigger Asses of themselves.

Trump makes the day and infomercial about himself and how great he is.

Rudy shows Ode to Fascism video.

Then we have a speaker at the New York ceremony attacking the four Congresswomen known as the Squad.

I lost a friend in tower two. Even his family thinks this bullshit is a stain on his memory.

I think the point of a physical memorial is that you don't continue to have social memorials every year. But what do I know.

As long as international terrorism is alive and well and victims are still dying, there will be people who want to commemorate 9/11 for various reasons. Memorial Day should be redefined to include victims of terrorism both international and domestic (Oklahoma City Bombing) and not just limited to those killed in military service.

Very, very agreed.

I was lucky not to lose anyone I knew, but lots of people I knew did.
We had a nanny-housekeeper for our 6 year old. She lost 4 members of her church.
My 6 year old had a classmate who NEARLY lost his father, and a 2nd grader did.
The head of our dojo was part-owner of a private fund. 27 people who worked for him died.
The President of our small company lost his best friend.
Another man who worked for us lost a friend there.
A friend in Northern Virginia lost for member of his church at the Pentago as did his partner.
A colleague of my wife lost friends in BOTH the WTC and flight 93
My brother knew people who died in the towers.
A colleague my wife worked with was 10 minutes late for a meeting at the WTC--that saved his life.
My best friend's brother, whom I was also friends with for years, was in building 7. He ran out and saw the 2nd plane hit over his head and body parts raining down, ran for his life.
A few days later I walked into a branch of my bank. One teller was in tears "Have you seen my cousin? No one's seen him!" He had died in the WTC.

You don't forget something like this, nor how Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bolton, LIbby all use it to cook up an attack on...Iraq, which had nothing to do with it.

I'll always remember the Los Angeles civil insurrection of 1992. I remember everything about 9/11 and where I was and how scared everyone was almost everywhere.

I have friends from NYC who went through 9/11 and they don't need speeches to remember how it changed their lives. At this point, it should either be a personal remembrance day, IMHO.

There are several stages of mourning in the Jewish tradition, but the yartzheit of a loved one is annual. We pick up our lives and continue on, but we always remember.
