In all honesty, I have no sympathy for the kid. Copycats are a real and serious threat. But most importantly, this kid will learn the old adage, If you play stupid games, you will win a stupid prizes.

The public is nervous and so is law enforcement, same as the public and police response we saw after the Parkland shooting. 27 arrests doesn't mean 27 convictions, they have to have evidence.

I really hate to see kids get arrested for this, but after we've had so many issues with police ignoring calls about people who became mass shooters, they can no longer afford to take chances. Any threat of violence has to be assumed to be credible unless overwhelming evidence indicates otherwise. Unfortunately, I do not know what would constitute "overwhelming" evidence in all cases.
