My refrigerator is 30 years old, just a basic old Sears Kenmore, which I believe is actually a GE refrigerator according to a serial number check. It's from the days when GE was US owned and made, now it's actually owned by a mainland Chinese company.

They still had those for emergency starting in the 60’s on some cars.
Not on any American cars, nor on any imports I remember!

Saw cars similar to this in Finland in the 1960’s. Which was the basis of my comment.

Made up to 1961.

We bought a new Frigidaire refrigerator a few years back. The old just was too annoying to defrost.

I assume it helped starting during those cold Finnish winters, I do understand it. Never saw it in Montana, but we had head bolt/block heaters that we plugged in at night and it helped starting vehicles in the morning. Weather below 0F is tough on batteries.

I believe they were exactly popular in cars for winter conditions. Battery technology didn’t measure to today’s standards. Lots of Range Rover and Rover vehicles had them as well. I had a great uncle that worked for Suomen Autoteollisuus, Finnish company that imported vehicles and also Finnish heavy equipment and trucks like SISU. A lot had cranks as backup. I don’t think they were all as easy starting as the Renault in the video. LoL.

Yes, that older guy had an easy time cranking that Renault. It looks like an old Renault Dauphine model with a rear engine like a VW Bug. Renaults aren't sold in the US like Peugeot, Opel, Vauxhall... Would take some muscles crank starting a truck or heavy equipment.

Oh, I'm a charter member! I've had such responses from LG, and, lately from iVation (they make WiFi dehumidifiers--I have a cracked fan and they won't sell me the replacement part), KwikSet--their Halogen Lockset is total crap. And, of course, Mercedes.
