2I watched the police vest cam. He broke the first rule of shooting. Know what is in the line of fire. Also why was a new rookie out by himself? Is that the standard in police departments today. I remember when rookies were only allowed to go with an experienced officer for so many months before being turned lose on the civilian population.

3Yes, he violated a cardinal rule, know what's behind your target. If he had a taser he should have used it rather than a gun. The victim is the daughter of a fire captain in the area.

5Question is will he get dismissed because of this or will be just get a slap on the wrist or maybe no punishment whatsoever. In today's climate you have to wonder.

6You could tell he was rattled in the video. My first thought was to climb the fence that was next to him. I assume he had other weapons he could use, too. The dog was running toward him and he was rattled.
He wasn't chasing down an axe murderer with a dog in the way. He had no reason to shoot at a running dog while backing up. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

7He knew who was in the line of fire. He was talking to her just before he fired in her direction.
Fire him and charge him with whatever. (corrected from manslaughter, I thought he killed her)
He bet her life on the chance that dog would seriously injure him. She lost, he has to pay the debt.

8Instead of all kinds of body armor and military style hardware why aren't police wearing bite guards on their legs and arms if dogs are so high on their threat pyramid? Its like they can plan for any other tactical contingency but can't seem to carry dogspray or a whistle.
I don't like to think of my self as an artist so much as someone who stares at empty spaces and imagines s--t.

9He had a high fence next to him. With all that adrenaline, he could have jumped the fence if his car wasn't nearby and called for help. He just panicked.
