El Paso Shooting Probed as Domestic Terrorism After Anti-Immigrant Gunman Kills 22 People
REP. CÉSAR BLANCO: Sure. Well, obviously, Texas is a state that has an infatuation with weapons, and these are weapons that are readily available in our communities.

You know, I want to respond to lieutenant governor’s statement that this is about video games. You know, video games didn’t kill 20 people in our community. Video games did not maim 26 additional people who are fighting for their lives in the hospital. It was a white supremacist with a high-powered automatic assault rifle that killed those individuals,...
I'd call that a double--1) false statement about the weapon used and 2) anthropomorphism.
And for politicians to skirt around the truth to identify the problem instead and implement policies that address this issue is shameful.
Sounds like projection.

El Paso, Texas, Mayor Dee Margo told reporters on Monday that President Trump will visit the city on Wednesday, even as several prominent Democrats indirectly blamed the president for Saturday's mass shooting there -- with some warning him, in frank terms, to stay away. News of Trump's planned appearance teed up a potentially bitter national political moment just four days after suspected gunman Patrick Crusius, 21, allegedly opened fire at a Walmart and killed 22 people while injuring more than two dozen others.

"He is president of the United States," Margo told reporters. "So in that capacity, I will fulfill my obligations as mayor of El Paso and hope that if we are expressing specifics that we can get him to come through for us." The mayor said he is “already getting the emails and the phone calls” from “people with lots of time on their hands," but that his focus remains on his community, not politics.
Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley told reporters that she had "not gotten a call" about a presidential visit as of late Monday, and didn't have more details.
But both before and after Margo's announcement, several Democrats forcefully urged Trump not to visit El Paso. Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, who represents the district that is home to the Walmart where Saturday’s shooting took place, lashed out at the president on Monday morning -- placing some of the blame for the weekend’s tragedy at his feet.

“The president has made my community and my people the enemy,” she told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

I saw Cornyn's tweet and thought about how the food must be so great!
You'd think so, but they manage to have mediocre greasy food with as little spice as possible. I dpn't understand how they do it. "Tex" must be local shorthand slang for "sin sabor, por favor". They also pride themselves on BBQ without sauce, which I admit does meet a high standard for quality smoked meat, but...

I will give Texas props for Lone Star beer and Tito's vodka. Both are quality drinkable products, very far from the Oregoneon style of "something was funky in this fermentation, just cover it with more hops" IPA or their famous "artisanal means we don't have to cut out the tails" style of distilled spirits.

See, I'm working on shifting the focus of my rivalry.
Quick rundown.
Lone Star beer is about as good as house piss. The Lone Star name is now owned by Pabst Brewing Company. Production of Lone Star is currently contracted out to Miller Brewing Company in Fort Worth. Brewed with pure Trinity River water. We have much better beers in Texas than that crap.
Amen. So much good craft beer here now. Lone Star has been rat piss as far back as I can remember ... but...different tastes...

Not much of a vodka drinker but Tito’s is excellent. Dripping Springs and Deep Eddy aren’t bad. TX Whiskey is the bomb...
