Obama on US gun sales: "They can buy over the Internet. They can buy machine guns."

Barack Obama: It’s Too Easy to Buy Machine Guns Online in the US
Former President Barack Obama demonstrates that, for the hoplophobic left, advocating for ever-more restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms is a fact-free endeavor.
Barack Obama says U.S. gun laws 'don't make sense' and that it's even possible to 'buy machine guns' as he reveals Sandy Hook massacre was the 'hardest day' of his life
'Gun laws in the United States don't make much sense. Anybody can buy any weapon, anytime without, you know, without much if any regulation. They can buy over the Internet. They can buy machine guns.'
Obama - considered by many as the 'most anti-gun president in American history' - made several attempts to limit the size of gun magazines, expand background checks of gun buyers during his two terms in office.

But many have not. Like AZ and NV for a couple. Meaning Obama said truth. Not that I like his intentions. But no one who owns one has ever used one in a massacre.

No, he didn't say something true. He said something that is mostly false in reality. When one makes a general statement it should be true more often than not.

We all own guns, so we could be the next mass shooter, is only true if you ignore the reality that owning a firearm is actually a minor point in becoming a mass shooter.

I can order clothing over the internet, it's not that easy to order a machine gun on the internet.

Because the world's greatest gun salesman may still be able to wring a few thousand more gun sales out of the frightened children who voted for the current shit stain, eh.

Note bullitt's post above about NFA and so on. I did not let the whole site load, tbh. Just goes to show how foolish humans can be.

Still NFA items. It isn't like buying socks on Amazon. You can also buy explosives on the internet it you've got the credentials.
I believe I mentioned a class 3 license. "you can buy guns on the internet." True or false? "You can buy machine guns on the internet." True or suggestio falsi?
If you went to the link you could clearly see you can have one shipped to your FFL. You still have to prove your capable of owning one either way.

Yup, but Obama is insinuating you can buy them as easily as socks at Amazon, which simply isn't true. First, "the man" must crawl up your ass and determine you worthy, thus regulated.

"You can buy guns on the Internet" is an intentionally deceitful trope popular with the firearm prohibition lobby. Although one can pay for a firearm "on the Internet," one cannot receive a firearm via mail or courier as a result of that financial transaction. CMP transfers are the exception, and in free states there must be a physical handoff from a seller to a buyer for a private sale.

To promote fear, Obama and the disarmament lobby would have the uninformed believe one can order a BAR online from Bud's and have it show up at one's doorstep.

Obama never was a gun guy so give him some credit there, now idea that one can buy a machine gun of the internet is ridiculous as it implies that one can buy it without any background check. You can buy a machine gun in the shop but first ATF/DOJ has to approve you and you have to pay 200 dollar tax and engrave a gun with your name and state.

Since 1986 only twice fully automatic legally owned weapons were used once by gun shop owner who defended his store from criminals who broke into the store and once by a cop who killed his informant I think he is still in the prison.

OH MY GOD!! LOL
I have a friend who lives in NEV and his dad (dirt farmer) loved guns, after he passed they opened his trunk and low an behold there was a machine gun. So he had to go get a class 3 , no problem he said. Gotta get up there and shoot it in their pit range.

I call bullshit. One CANNOT make a machinegun legal by 'registering' it. The last act of that type was the amnesty granted with the '68 GCA, to bring a whole lot of previously unknown guns under the National Firearms Act of '34.

The supply of transferable (meaning being able to be bought by an approved purchaser) is limited due to the '86 machinegun ban (meaning no more can be legally made from scratch or by conversion of a semi-auto look-alike).

There is a BIG difference between a class 3 dealer and a private collector. The dealer is referred to as an 'Occupational Taxpayer' and has yearly fees associated with their license, is subject to periodic inspections by the ATF, and can in certain instances obtain many NFA items as 'sales samples' for demonstration to law enforcement agencies. These samples can only be sold to other dealers or surrendered to the ATF if they go out of business. CL3 dealers do not pay a transfer tax on NFA items coming or going into their inventory.

A private collector, such as myself has to obtain NFA weapons from either another collector with a listed gun or dealer, and each regulated transfer is subject to the tax (either $200 or $5, depending on what category the weapon falls under). This activity can take as long as a year to grind thru the annals of government ops that are in no particular hurry. The good thing is you are not subject to inspections, and you can will it free of transfer tax to a family member upon your death. Otherwise, you can do whatever you do with any non-NFA gun. A private collector DOES NOT have a 'license' for their NFA stuff, and each gun or suppressor is a separate item subject to transfer protocol.

Having to engrave your name, state, or some such is BS: the description of the weapon with dimensions, maker, and serial number is on the document, along with a really pretty cancelled stamp from 1934 and your potograph. If one is out shooting it and LE wants to make sure you're legal a quick look to match up things and you are on your way. I've never had to produce docs, BTW. Otherwise, they have to get a warrant to inspect your premises. Wise shooters make copies and keep the original document in a safe place.

Not that a lot of you give a shit about such things, just sayin' accuracy counts.
