Anyone doing anything special? I'll probably get my flute out and have my own impromptu, one-woman session.

If any of y'all have ever wondered "how come we don't get a straight pride day or a white pride day?", it's today.
Celebrating the same way I have ever since my childhood a block from Killeen's Tavern and Taney street, by staying off the street.

LOL! Yup, there is that.
Nope. The last time I wondered about stuff like that I was asking "Why is there Mother's Day and Father's Day, but no Children's Day?"
You know what answer I got!
So Happy St. Padraig's Day!

I've got Corned Beef and Cabbage (which is really Jewish), Lagunitas Imperial Stout (Californian) and the Dropkick Murphys (So. Boston) Happy "traditional Irish" St. Paddy's Day.

Corned beef; cabbage; Irish potatoes - since Friday - still have a passel to finish off. Homemade corned beef hash, eggs and biscuit for Sunday breakfast. Cabbage not having the effects I'd hoped for. LOL

Belated Happy St Pat's Day.
A lot of celebrations and customs got Americanized including St Pat's Day. Originally it was a religious holiday in Ireland and the bars were closed, even the big parades were an American thing. And even corned beef and cabbage is American.

We made an "unconventional" corned beef slow cook yesterday with some of last year's frozen chiles:

In the old comic strip called variously "Bringing up Father", "Jiggs and Maggie" (or "Maggie and Jiggs") Maggie could always persuade Jiggs with his favorite meal: Corned Beef & Cabbage.

I celebrated white drinker's day by working on removing my front lawn. I maybe got a third of it torn out. Mid 70s and sunny. I fucking hate pick axes, especially since I'm not a drinker.
