Men's satchel

I'm looking for a murse, man bag, satchel, etc. I currently use a small Timbuk2 messenger bag as my general crap hauler and lunch sack. It's a little too big and the black interior makes it hard to find things. I have a few requirements and a few wishes.
Required: doesn't look like a brief case, is not a backpack, small enough to carry every day, non-tactical, not brown or black inside.
Wishes: an external water bottle pocket, a non visible compartment that could be used for off-body CCW while allowing access to the contents inside without revealing something scary.
To make the idea of a murse more sexy, NutSac (great name!) has a pretty nice bag, the "Satchel". It comes close to meeting my requirements. There are plenty of ccw-specific options out there but they all make you look like you're playing soldier with the straps and webbing everywhere... Anybody have another suggestion?

This probably violates a couple of your boundary conditions but I have been happy with the Maxpedition Versapack for about six years.

I looked hard at the Pacsafe Metrosafe LS250 a while back as a possible replacement for an old Eagle Creek shoulder bag that has been with me for many years and many trips. I decided to stick with the old bag for a while longer, but the Pacsafe had everything I needed. I believe the interior of the bag is a light color fabric in all of the exterior color options. And it's really hard to find a shoulder bag these days with an external water bottle pocket. The Pacsafe bottle pocket looks like it may require the addition of a paracord loop and a cordlock to cinch down over the neck of the water bottle. An easy modification.

That Pacsafe looks pretty close. The Maxpedition is nice but, meh on the tacticool factor. I have something similar that sits in the closet.
The medium Cafe Bag by Tom Bihn just went to the top of my list.

Just my personal preference, but I don't care for shoulder bags that use a single flap to secure the main compartment. I much prefer a zipper closure that leaves no gaps for smaller objects to slip out.

This has a variety of colors. And there is a rumor that LGC members may eventually get a discount.

Check out the bags by Tom Binh, based in Seattle. He has lots to choose from and you can have one custom made. I have one of his bags that I had custom made for me 20 years ago in Santa Cruz where he had a little shop and did all the work himself. That was when I was still riding motorcycles so I had him put in a reflective strip. I still have it, it’s still going strong, and I use it nearly every day.

I've been using a messenger bag for nearly 25 years and have yet to lose something out the top. But I'm sure it will happen some day.
@hiker, a little too briefcase, but close.
@huck, 8 may go with a Tom Bihn "cafe bag", questions remain as to small or medium.

Well, you could go old school murse. Google "sporran"
Also, if you want something small, check this out:

Sporran would definitely fit the low profile look I was going for. Maybe with a bushel of kale hanging out of it?
And a fanny pack? Just what sort of metrosexual do you think you're dealing with?
I've ordered the Tom Bihn Medium Cafe Sack. I'm sure it will be too big but the small will be too small...

When I was working I went through too many different ones. Ended up with a messenger bag which accommodated my work laptop and aircard and a separate zippered portfolio.

What a hoot: Nutsac is my neighbor's company, here in Corvallis. He started it with a disc golf buddy. Good bags- the waxed cotton, leather strapping, and hardware are all quality. I use the Satchel Pro, as it's a little bigger and fits a MacBook air and loads of other stuff.
I see you've ordered a bag already, but if you are still interested - or anyone else for that matter - PM me and lemme see if I can get a discount for LGCers.

That's cool. It looks like a nice bag and I actually prefer it's aesthetics. But I figured I'd give the Bihn bag a go as it seems like it's easier to, ahem, customize.

Check out Saddleback Leather. They have a couple of items close to your specs. I drool over their leather bags, but I can't justify the price right now.

They do have nice stuff but are a bit too proud of it. I can't justify that price,
ever.
True to form, I lost sleep wondering if the Bihn bag will work or if I should have gone with the NutSac.... Uhm, it's a bag stupid. Go to sleep.
I like the insert thingy on the Binh bag since it's removable for when you need to stuff it full and solves a lot of organizational issues with it installed. If I have it by this weekend, I'll report back with some photos and, hopefully, assuaged worries.

I love the Saddleback stuff. I was given one of their briefcases decades ago and carried it for years. I still carry their large men’s wallet.
As they say, they’ll fight over it after you die.
However, their prices are high.

If you want, uh, inexpensive messenger bags, the one that I personally have comes from Ducti.

You can't beat 30 bones for a decent canvas bag.
You'd probably like this bag:

Holy smokes, I had no idea there were so many of this kind of thing out there. A lot of nice stuff, too. I don't remember seeing Duluth Trading in the mix, but they've got quality bags as well.
That Saddleback Leather satchel is sweet.
Looking forward to seeing the follow up picks with the bag customized with the appropriate modification.

I'm cracking-up at the "Morro Bay" bag.
I like the Nutsack stuff. If I had cause to carry more than two pockets worth of stuff, I'd go for one.
I do like the blue jeans by CCWBreakaways. I can pocket my 3" revolver without the butt sticking out, or just an insane amount of misc crap. Their slacks aren't nearly as good.

Two pockets full of stuff here. I seem to keep adding keys to the key chain and want to get them out of the pocket. And then there's the prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses. Since I can't wear both at the same time, I need a case. And the bigass Note phone. And I like to carry a water bottle. And a sensible earthquake area person carries a power brick, charging cable and ear buds. And I'm tired of my wallet in my pocket. And I'd like a smaller pocket knife so I could put a larger one in the bag. And then there's the little emergency kit in my current Timbuk2. And then, if I ever do manage to get a CCW, there's the extra mag and possibly the gat itself, depending on circumstance. Oh, the shit I could add...

I tried a dozen messenger bags ...
Then I reverted to backpacks.
Messenger bags were fine when I wasn't in a hurry.
In a hurry? Going a long way?
