Robbie Leonard, Secretary of the Maryland Democratic Party deleted the tweet, of course.

A good reminder of how gun prohibitionists view those who display "will not comply" signs.

Is this all stemming from the Stoneman Douglass gang? The push is hard and everywhere. I don't really understand why now. Fight fascists with disarmament?

Well when you have these statements from elected representatives.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) on Sunday denounced a GOP state lawmaker for saying that gun control proponents needed to be "kicked to the curb and stomped on and run over a few times," arguing that the language endangers communities.

“Encouraging violence endangers our communities and undermines our democracy, particularly when the statement is made by an elected official,” Walz said in a statement, according to The Pioneer Press. “While heated debates are a healthy part of the political process, this type of language is unacceptable and demands condemnation from people of all political parties.”

The comments from Walz came just a day after state Rep. Cal Bahr (R) called on people to push back against groups advocating for tougher gun laws in the state.

“There’s a lot of us in this room that have had enough, and it’s time to start riding herd on the rest of these people that want to take your rights away from you,” Bahr said during the Minnesota Gun Owner Caucus rally.

He added that advocates calling for gun control would "not go quietly into the good night."

"They need to be kicked to the curb and stomped on and run over a few times,” Bahr said.

Minnesota is preparing to debate multiple gun control proposals during this year's legislative session, according to the Pioneer Press. One of the bills would mandate universal background checks for firearm purchases, while another would allow police to confiscate guns from individuals determined to be dangerous.

The Minnesota state House public safety committee is expected to hold hearings on the proposals this week, The Pioneer Press noted.

In addition to Walz, Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman (D) called Bahr's comments "reprehensible."

"Encouraging violence is irresponsible and dangerous," she said.

Bahr has accused the lawmakers of taking his comments out of context in an effort to discredit his opposition to the gun control measure.

"They used one sentence from a six-minute speech and it was taken out of context," Bahr told ABC 5, a local affiliate in Minnesota. "I would not advocate for killing people. Why would I advocate for killing people? But, this is a very bad policy idea that needs to be killed--a policy idea that needs to be killed."

Bahr Did later apologize for his statements, said he was misinterpreted..

So we have to have an interpreter to understand these comments? :hmmm:

On the one hand, making aggressive comments calling for violence against gun control proponents is bad politics. On the other hand it's entirely reasonable to propose violence in defense of civil rights. I just read an interesting book called "We Will Shoot Back" about armed resistance to segregation in Mississippi during the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr and nonviolence was the face presented to the public for political reasons, but people were still armed and *did* use violence to defend themselves when white supremacists attacked them. The right to vote is not more important than the right to keep and bear arms.

Yes, selective memory and selective history of the civil rights movement.
William Worthy, who was a journalist...tried to sit down in an armchair in Martin King's house and was warned by Bayard Rustin, who was with him, that he was about to sit down on a couple of guns. King was a man of the South, after all, and he responded to terrorism, he responded to violence the way most people in the South would be inclined to respond. So when the Klan...bombed his house in 1956, he went to the sheriff's office and applied for a gun permit to carry a concealed weapon. Now, he didn't get the permit...but Martin King always acknowledged — if you read his writings — the right to self-defense, armed self-defense.

Maryland authorities could face open defiance if new gun laws pass, including from one of their own
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A Maryland-grown gun rights movement called “We Will Not Comply” is promising open defiance of any new gun control laws that may pass in the state.
The “We Will Not Comply” movement started by a Second Amendment advocacy group called the Patriot Picket has gained steam as the 2019 session of the General Assembly has unfolded.
Tuesday, they stepped up the defiance when Patriot Picket co-founder Jeff Hulbert disrupted a gun control vote in the House of Delegates and was escorted out by State Police in a video captured on YouTube.
Not smart.

Never heard of Patriot Picket.
