Requesting book recommendations!
Do you have a book that helped your marksmanship? That detailed a fascinating chapter of guns in the civil rights movement? That has helped you become a better firearms instructor? That follows the unique relationship between the gun and American history?
The Liberal Gun Club is looking for exceptional titles to populate our LGC library. Help support the club! The sale of books through the Amazon.com affiliate program will generate revenue for The LGC as a percentage of each sale.

2I’m working through Ben Stoeger’s Dry Fire Reloaded and Practical Pistol reloaded. They seem pretty worthy, possibly.

Re: Book Recommendation Request
6Oooh, my first two recommendations won't sit so well here: "Basics of Pistol Shooting" and "Basics of Rifle Shooting" from the NRA. They're both pretty non-political and are packed with good info.
Other than that:
The Army Marksmanship Unit's Pistol Marksmanship book. (Published under several titles.)
Brian Enos' Practical Shooting: Beyond Fundamentals.
For history:
We Will Shoot Back: Armed Resistance in the Mississippi Freedom Movement, by Akinyele Omowale Umoja
Gun Fight by Adam Winkler

7I knew you'd sneak one in there that I have to buy. Just checked out the YT video of his exhibit. Wow.

8You can see The Spine and Tooth of Santo Guerro (2007) at the De Young. It's pretty moving.

Re: Book Recommendation Request
12Just came across this thread (don't look in here often...), and would like to recommend
The Rifle in America by Philip B. Sharpe (3rd edition, 1953; Funk & Wagnalls, 800 pages)
It's worth keeping an eye out for at gun shows, used bookstores, etc. First edition was 1938; it was revised & enlarged for the second edition in 1947, and an updated supplement was added for the third edition. It's an excellent in-depth reference work, covering flintlock to post-WWII rifles and ammunition.
I'm still looking for Sharpe's prewar book on reloading to add to my reference library.

13Good Lord! Survival Guns! It was Mel Tappan and The Mother Earth News, both in the mid-70's, IIRC, which led me down the primrose path to where I am today. Whoda thunkit!HuckleberryFun wrote: Sun Feb 24, 2019 8:49 pm Some good ones I pulled (in no particular order) off the shelf.
