Forgive me, I have sinned ... (ATI 1911 9mm)

1
First, I don't 'need' a new firearm. I have more in my safe than I can shoot with any frequency. I take them to the range using the GUILT model (who have I not shot recently.)

Second, I have committed two sins at once. (1) I bought a 1911 in 9mm. (2) I bought an ATI Commander 4.25 barrel length.

I bought a new 1911 because I HAVE to have one. (My P238 is crying at night for a big brother - I swear this is true.)

I bought a 9mm because I am avoiding stockpiling a new caliber. I would love to shoot the .45, but my personality refuses to have a new caliber without stockpiling (I am not well.)

I bought an ATI because it has the model 70 trigger, everyone loves it, and it is all steel. But it is a "cone of shame" brand. Because I do not 'need' a new firearm I rationalized that a decent quality lower cost brand will fill my desperate 'new gun need' without over spending.

I blame Bisbee for telling me how much he likes his 1911. (Yes, that was months ago, but the wound is deep.)

I blame Marlene for MAKING a new gun (which I cannot do).

I blame KlownKannon for his double holster rig.

I blame my daughter-in-law (a total sweetheart) because she is from the Philippines and says the PI makes great pistols.

I blame my American Enfield 1911 .30-06 because it wants a model 1911 by its side. (Vintage rifles can, and do, talk to you.)

I am weak. I listen to the voices in my head.

The gun arrives next week. I think it may become my go-to range pistol. The low cost of the 9mm ammo will let me chew up bullets as if this baby was a .22.

Now I am looking everywhere for grips, magazines, holsters, etc. The 1911 world is rich with choice.

I didn't have actual room in my safe, so of course, I order a NEW safe.

I prefer to think of it as therapy ...

But, eerily similar to an 'addiction' the dosage and frequency are increasing. I blame the associations I have on this forum.
Yes, I, too, had NO problem before I joined this forum.

Ooooh... Commander in 9mm is it? Looks like this?

I’d like to shoot that. I mean ten “Hail Mary’s” and drop off some dog buiscuits at the local animal shelter. And make sure you feel properly guilty about what you’ve done and you should be forgiven.

Oh the shame! You have purchased the bastard offspring of a royal 1911 and a peasant 9mm. On your knees and ask the forgiveness of John Moses Browning for your possession of this abomination, by repeating the mantra. 45ACP because having to shot twice is just silly. :D

Have fun at the range.

I have owned an ATX .45 1911 before and can say it was accurate and was dead nuts reliable. Sold it because I was stupid in love with an actual Colt (series 80) which was equally reliable and accurate at twice the price.

I currently own another 1911 from the Philippines that is a double-stack 9mm which to me was the answer to a long and nagging question in my heart. Something John Browning was imagining the Hi-Power was to become but fell short of before his untimely demise: a reliable, hi-capacity 9mm with a crisp trigger and fun to shoot. The answer was before his eyes IMHO.

Have you actually observed squirrels at work? They are not right in the head. They work like German’s designing.

If you have sinned, guess I'm in total blasphemy !! I wouldn't own a 1911 in any caliber, unless someone gave me one, then I'd probably sell or trade it. Just not a fan and we're not a good fit.

There is always hope for the heretics, that they will one day see the light and become a true believer and become one in the fold of the believers in God's sidearm the 1911. :yahoo:

Remember if God carried a sidearm it would be a m1911A1. :D
