Anti-Tesla Pickup Truck Drivers Take Over a Supercharger Station -- Again

In what is quickly becoming a problem for some Tesla drivers, pickup truck drivers have again taken over a Supercharger station and yelled profanities in what appears to be an act of protest against Tesla.
Earlier this month, we reported on a strange situation at Tesla’s Hickory Supercharger in North Carolina where 3 large pickup trucks blocked access to the station and reportedly chanted “F*** Tesla”.
As we reported at the time, it’s not exactly uncommon for vehicles to block access to charging stations.
It is referred to in EV community as ‘Icing’ a charging station – when ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles are occupying a space for an EV.
Most often than not, it’s a mistake from the driver or someone who simply doesn’t care, but the situation appeared to be different in Hickory with the pickup drivers acting aggressively and in protest of Tesla.
Now it looks like it’s becoming a trend since another Reddit user spotted pickup truck drivers taking over another Tesla Supercharger
They reportedly were also yelling profanities to Tesla owners coming to charge at the Supercharger station.
The pickup trucks were blocking the charging stations in a popular time for long-distance travels, which is, of course, a busy time for charging stations.
Just like the days of the horse and buggy protesting the horseless carriage or the club toting cave man protesting the spear throwing hut dweller.

I wonder what these idiots will do, since Bill Ford has announced a hybrid Ford F-150 for 2020 and an all electric F-150 to follow. Guess they will just have to buy them a Dodge RAM 3500 from that Italian Car company.

When faced with a pickup parked in front of a charger by an angry anti-electric-car fanatic, YouTube Patrick Lawson of Tesla Trip suggests simply towing the truck away—with your Tesla.
As he demonstrates in a recent video, thanks to the four-wheel-drive system in the Model X and the seemingly endless torque from the four electric motors, towing the 5,000-plus-pound vehicle away from the charging station was no problem, even with the truck’s parking brake engaged.

I saw this at an EV station near my house. I thought it was weird a pickup picked that spot to park (lots of other parking available.) Not surprised to see it's a thing.

I am old enough to remember Americans smashing Toyota imports back in the 80’s because they felt threatened by the competition. This was when GM was turning out crap gas guzzlers and the little fuel efficient Japanese imports just ran and ran so of course people bought them. That kinda put a butt-hurt on some UAW’s view of ‘Murica First so they smashed them just because... caveman rules.
The MAGA types that are feeling threatened now by their lack of competitiveness in the world are modeling after the president and throwing tantrums. But this anger has turned inward, less about racial superiority than a perceived class war. I say “perceived” because it actually takes both sides to start a war. The folks who can afford to drive Tesla’s can frankly give a shit about those who drive Ford F-150’s.
But maybe that’s the problem? Capitalism strikes again.

I just don't understand their lack of thinking. Teslas are made in the US. They aren't an import. They help the environment and yes they are expensive, but some of the pickups I see around here would give the Teslas a run fo the money in cost. Seems the this type of pickup driver is the same bubba knuckle dragger that support Orange Stain and are the ones that delighting tailgating other drivers and then swerve in and out of traffic to get two cars ahead of you.

It ain’t a nationality thing. It’s about perceived Winning and Losing in that elusive “pursuit of happiness” thing. -Sore loser’s so to speak.
And yes you’re right, they can’t stand being cut off in traffic and really, really enjoy leaving a cloud of black soot behind their Cummins diesel powered trucks. -These are not happy people and believe they must spread their dissatisfaction in heaps upon others.

Agreed. Can an EV move a pickup? Yup. They can move slightly larger vehicles as well.
This latest round of stunts does ramp things up, and it's definitely intentional. It's not much more than EVers have to work around routinely, though. Most Americans have no idea that electric vehicles exist, or that there's anything wrong with parking in open parking spots. I'm on my third plug-in. I've had the opportunity to have cars towed, have tracked down owners to have a car moved, and have pulled cables around porta-potties and pallets of construction material. It's just part of the process.

Assholes are every where. I've had more than one challenge charging due to a blocked charging station. Common courtesy becomes less common every year.
