Happy New Year!

Woke up to a drunk trying to get in through my front door at 3:47. The drunk stayed for around 30 minutes. The police took an hour to show up. For those wondering, no I did not take any of my guns out, just my 2 foot heavy flashlight. So happy New Year, it’s starting off just fine. Hope the police find this drunk before someone gets hurt.

He’s lucky he came to YOUR house.

The old stories of a drunk being shot as they broke into some home came to mind. I was hoping the cops would have come earlier to get him into a safer place. The police asked what he looked like and I showed them a fuzzy pic. Said he looked drunk alright and that this was not uncommon. I suspect they meant during New Years. I hope they found him or that he sobered enough to figure a safe way home.

Pretty quiet here last night and now. Drove this morning and the streets were deserted except for one duck hunter hauling his boat. Maybe geese--hard to tell from just the boat.

Happy New Year to one and all.

There's a reason nothing rhymes with orange.

I don’t recall hearing any fireworks or gun fire. It was pretty peaceful until I woke up to our drunk. He was so drunk he didn’t even realize I took a picture of him from a few feet away.

Happy New Year to one and all! Here's hoping that we see some major wins in cases challenging restrictive gun laws.

That has just enough of the sinister in it to be exquisitely satisfying.

Tons of fireworks were happening in my corner of the world last night. The sulfur clouds stayed low which added just enough 'atmosphere' to feel like a 'shock and awe' campaign. The car was covered in remnants of the neighbor's fireworks this morning. No drunks at either door, though, so there's that.

Happy New Year.

(Sorry for the noise, Bacchus - the clicky keyboard is new. )

Fireworks in Las Vegas for the New Year.

http://cdn-max.s3.amazonaws.com/Fireworks_HD.mp4

What you cannot clearly see is that (somewhat) simultaneous fireworks are going off on top of 5+ casinos.

They close Las Vegas Blvd to cars - only foot traffic. No pedestrians allowed on the cross bridges - only police. People are in big crowds in the street. And for fun, a large number of people are in basically summer clothing - it was 37 degrees F last night.

Happy New Year to all.

Happy new year everyone.
Yesterday was quiet for me. No drunks knocking on my door or anything. I didn't even leave the house. Today I went to the range for couple of hours and put a pistol on layaway.
It's a good way to start the year.

Happy New Year, Everyone!
Today was a travel day (!) because our youngest has to be back in school tomorrow. So last night, just after midnight, we all went off to rack out. I was up at 5am (ugh!) to close up the house (storm shutters have to go up) and we had to leave before 8 for a 9am flight to West Palm beach....then a lay-over for the flight north. Got home around 6:30.

No drunks banging on our door...
