I knew how this worked in Arizona, but I'm not so clear on how to DIY gun-selling in my new home state. I have one ffl who wants to consign for me, and he would charge 15 or 20% (depending the the selling price).
I'd appreciate hearing your experiences or insight.
In case it matters, I'd be selling pistols and long guns. Does Oregon have any restrictions on black powder guns?
ps. I'll be listing a few items in our Trading Post sub-forum.

Black Powder guns are technically (or as defined by the BATF) NOT firearms. You should be able to sell one like a lawn mower or golf clubs.

I packed the guns up myself, took them to the UPS hub, and shipped them off to the receiver's FFL with instructions. AFAIK Black powder guns are still exempt in Oregon from restrictions.

I've sold two in the past year. Both times I made arrangements to meet buyer at a LGS for the transfer. The only people you can transfer firearms to without a background check are close relatives.

The ways to sell a gun in AZ and OR are similar with the addition that in OR you must complete the sale at an FFL and pay a $25 fee (or more depending on the FFL) for them to run the background check for your Buyer. If selling out of state, just ship the gun to their FFL.
Jeez man I hope you aren’t getting out of shooting altogether. It’s been such a huge part of your life. For me too.

If I'm shipping handguns, can I use USPS? Would it need to go FFL to FFL or can I drop it at the Post Office for delivery to the buyer's FFL? Can long guns be shipped directly from the PO for delivery to the buyer's FFL?
I'm not getting out of shooting. But I would like to thin the herd, as it were.

Long guns can go USPS no prob.
Handguns can only go USPS via yout FFL. You cannot use USPS services directly for shipping handguns. Depending on the FFL you use (how much they charge) a flat rate Priority Mail box can sometimes still be cheaper than shipping via required methods by UPS or FedEx.
Remember, USPS does not want you to write anything about firearms on the box. You do not have to say anything about firearms in the package to the attendant if they ask. On the other hand UPS FedEx do require you to label the package as containing a firearm.
And then there is this service you can compare rates to if you don’t have an affordable FFL to work with:
