iPad Camera Surveillance?

Last night I distinctly heard the unmistakable sound of my iPad camera taking a picture while I was holding it.
But no new picture was found in the Photo Gallery. This could be a glitch, but...
Is it paranoid to assume that someone (either government, hackers, or corporate) has gained access to my iPad?
I’d like to think that I’m a dangerous hombre who warrants careful monitoring: my ego rather fancies that.
I just covered up the camera with a little sticker. Does anyone else in my tinfoil hat club do that?

We cover all cameras on computers at home and most certainly at work. For work we try very hard to buy laptops without cameras.

Keep cameras covered. According to a recent blurb I saw, even Mark Zuckerberg does that. You're iPad might have some sort of malware on it and a hacker was getting his lulz.

Yikes! Fortunately I was not naked, or he would have seen something more disturbing than lulz.

Cameras and mics everywhere, don't forget your smartphone with front and rear cameras and a microphone.
