Dick's Sporting Goods

OK I just want to vent here. Dick's put up a nice sale on shotgun ammo this week and we have gone multiple times to find some well-priced 20 gauge ammo. They have NOT stocked up their stores to supply extra ammo, and the truckload that came today at my local Dick's didn't even have any shotgun ammo on it! (Deer shotgun season starts *next week*....) The poor guy in "the Lodge" says they just got in a boatload of archery equiment and they are still getting Kayaks though! He was nice enough though to promise me a raincheck on the price even if it's after the sale though. What a stupid business model!

I bought some stuff at Dicks a year ago.....they promised to price match and I found a Vortex Scope for $50 less than they wanted and asked for a price match. Had to jump thru hoops ( I found it all Walmart) to get the price match and only succeeded when I shrugged them off saying I'd just buy it at the cheaper place if it was all that big of a deal. They did not want to honor the price match. That sucks.

Then when they decided to pull all their AR's I sent them a letter and will never buy from them again.

Not impressed with Dicks for Firearms and Shooting Stuff anymore.

My local store had rifles when it first opened. Now? That's all fishing poles and there is no shooting stuff at all--been that way for at least 5 years now.

Don't shop locally at Dicks Sporting Goods, poor selection in general, and pistol/rifle (those evil Assault Weapons) are banned within the city limits in the Peoples Republic of Madison.
REI mixes business with politics in the "Gun Violence" debate, preferring to throw firearms manufactures under the bus and kowtowing to pressure from "consumer activists".

Dick's competition is limited to Modell's and REI, both of which have more limited selection than Dick's. Sports Authority went under, and there are a couple of smaller stores, one a nice "ski" shop, the other very weird and unappealing. REI and the "ski shop" are the best places to get quality outdoor clothing.

If that kind of store is your speed then Sportsman’s Warehouse is better.

I haven't darkened their doors in years for the reasons mentioned above. I also prefer to buy firearms related things from actual local gun stores.

I bought a 10/22 there a couple of years ago when I came to pick it up after the 10 day waiting period the "qualified salesperson" who could give me the gun was not around and I had to wait around for an hour. Then they would not sell me any ammo until the gun was locked in my car and they would not hand me the gun in my hand until I was out on the parking lot. Needless to say I did not go back in to buy ammo. It was really not worth the hassle just to save a few bucks.

Awe, jeez. What a buncha di...

Well, guess we can’t claim that they weren’t upfront about it, being right there in their name and all.

I haven't bought anything at Dicks for a long time. Not just for political reasons but because I can get most everything elsewhere for the same or less.
