And people wonder why liberals are armed.

Just one week until the Midterm election and a Spokane Valley representative up for reelection finds himself under federal scrutiny after a manifesto distributed by him was leaked to the public.

The four-page document, titled "Biblical Basis for War" was originally reported by the Spokesman-Review. It's a radical Christian call to arms, outlining 14 steps for seizing power and what to do afterward in explicit detail. It calls for an end to abortions, an end to same-sex marriage, and if enemies do not yield and everyone obey biblical law, all males will be killed.
Who needs Sharia law, we've got our own fucked up dogma right here. I need to go make some more ammo.

And the Orange Shit-Stain has given all these murderous fuckers the feeling they have the RIGHT to kill people who are different.

Again, I KNEW these psycho assholes would come out when the shit-stain won due to the weirdness of our EC. And the next morning I began looking to getting guns, and learning how to shoot, somewhat.

Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho are notorious for far right groups, mainly Christian identity, but supremacist, racist and anti-Semitic. The famous Ruby Ridge standoff happened in that general area.

It's also some of the most beautiful country in the US. Back in August 2018 Republic Police (seat of Ferry County, WA) posted this on their website [there is a thread]: "Crimes happen and they happen in the blink of an eye usually when you least expect them," the post read. "If you go about your day unarmed and helpless you are a victim waiting for a crime to happen. ... Get a gun, take a class and refuse to be a victim."

Watching a Netflix series on terrorism and one episode is on the 2011 MLK Day bombing attempt in Spokane.
Kevin William Harpham is a 36-year-old ex-soldier with no major criminal record but ties to the white supremacist movement. He had been living in a home he built on 10 acres of land on a Stevens County hillside south of Colville. The Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit civil rights organization, said Harpham in 2004 was a member of the National Alliance. The group was founded by the late William Pierce, whose novel “The Turner Diaries” was believed to be the blueprint behind the 1995 bombing in Oklahoma City by Timothy McVeigh.

Well Mrs Hondo decided we are not moving there
Trust me: You do NOT want to live near such people!

My parents bought that house I was brought home to, on the banks of the Hudson River, not knowing they were no more than 1/2 mile from a hamlet that was the heart of an American Nazi "bund" before the war. My brothers and I grew up fighting fights, getting attacked, ganged up on, because we were Jews. Had they known? They never would have bought the house, despite the magnificent views.

A friend from my teen years, bought a house in that hamlet a few years ago. He found that the "old timers" haven't changed since the shit my sibs and I faced in the late 50's and mid-60's!

Established wing nut enclaves are few, and we finally got rid of Mecham, Brewer, and Arpaio.

The election outcome here will be interesting.

I lived in Tucson when I went to U of A. You’re right, AZ is not and never has been pure red. Tucson is not Scottsdale.
The state is flippable.

You've still got Kelli Ward, but she doesn't hold any political office so she's neutralized for now. Looking from the outside it appears Tucson and Flagstaff are the big liberal areas, Flagstaff is great but at 7000 ft elevation it probably gets a lot of snow during the winter, I was there this summer and it was beautiful. A former workmate and her husband moved to Tucson and they love it. Trump only won the state by 4%, so a lot of Arizonans voted for HRC. Sinema vs McSally race is a tossup, the Green candidate has 2% which would probably go to Sinema. 538 predicts Sinema will win but it'll will be a nail biter.

Krysten has an impressive background from childhood poverty to college; MSW, JD, PhD in criminal justice. She better matches AZ than the Democratic candidate for governor. Saw the Green candidate pulled out of the election and endorsed Sinema, but it might be too late with early voting.
Some Democrats believe that a fired-up progressive base will make the difference in tight races against Republicans. Beto O’Rourke, who is running against Republican Senator Ted Cruz in Texas, has become a lefty celebrity for his calls to demilitarize immigration enforcement, legalize marijuana, and banish donations from political-action committees. Sinema, by contrast, has started no such national firestorm. “She’s not hitting the progressive G-spot in the way that people want,” as one political operative in the state wryly put it.

Flag gets decent snow, fun to visit, but real estate is like the Bay Area. We tried there for a Summer Bugout, no joy. Bought in NM @ 8,000' and got great weather.

Curious if you know whether the steakhouse heading south out of Flagstaff is still open (Black Barts or some such name)? The few times I ate there in past was pretty good.

I've worked the mines in Superior and San Manuel. Spent a lot of time traveling and camping around the state. Flagstaff as I recall is in the Snow Bowl area of AZ.
