In His Last Book Hawking Says There's No God

Well, sure, there's no hairy old white man living in the sky who waves a magic wand. It sounds kind of quaint, doesn't it? Our conception of god comes from Michealangelo's painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and that phrase in the babble that says, "let us create man in our image." Nobody before Michaelangelo ever asked, Whose Image? The low information voter figures that it's painted on the ceiling of a church so it must be true. Just like on the internet. I read and saw it on the internet so it must be true.
London (CNN)There is no God -- that's the conclusion of the celebrated physicist Stephen Hawking, whose final book is published Tuesday
Also he says there's intelligent alien life in the universe.
"There are forms of intelligent life out there," he writes. "We need to be wary of answering back until we have developed a bit further."
I'll say! Not only that they've never been here. Why would they come here? And we need to get rid of Humpty Trumpty first. Could you imagine ET coming here and saying, "take me to your leader" with Humpty Trumpty in the white house.

He may have assumed that everyone knew he was secular/non-religious and didn't have to say it.
More generally, 53% of all [UK] adults describe themselves as having no religious affiliation, up from 48% in 2015. The latest figure is the highest since the BSA [British Social Attitudes] survey began tracking religious affiliation in 1983, when 31% said they had no religion.

While the fall in religious affiliation is being driven by the young, the proportion of people over 75 saying they have no religion is 27%. A much higher proportion, 40%, identify as C of E or Anglican.

When will a British government decide it's time to disestablish the Church of England and kick the 26 bishops out of the House of Lords?

Hawking was always an Atheist.

I'm never sure how Atheists define themselves. Some are like the old Soviet Atheists, asserting on faith there is no deity. Others are more like me, and I call myself an Agnostic (my wife says "Devout Agnostic"! :roflmao: ) in that I deny belief itself as a valid source of knowledge. So it's not that I BELIEVE there is no deity, it's that I don't accept belief in a deity as valid. My issue's with "belief" as a concept.

For my part I call myself an atheist precisely because I have no belief in any gods. I'm not saying that there aren't any, but I lack evidence of them so I don't believe in them. It's kind of like not believing in invisible pink unicorns.

An agnostic & an atheist come across the 'burning bush'.

The agnostic goes looking for the tape recorder, the atheist breaks out the marshmallows.

I've never drunk enough to see any pink unicorns, visible or invisible. And I plan not to (get that drunk). There's a unicorn horn (so it was thought) in The Cloisters in NYC. Of course it's actually a narwhal tusk.

To be a wet blanket, I actually think, from its description, that the "burning bush" was Moses experience a Migraine Aura. Classic, documented visual disruptions could easily, in 1400 BC, be confused as a "burning bush" that doesn't get hot nor is consumed.

The scientist died while still working on the book, which his family and colleagues finished with the help of his vast personal archives.
"With Brexit and Trump now exerting new forces in relation to immigration and the development of education, we are witnessing a global revolt against experts, and that includes scientists," Hawking said. Hawking had been a critic of the United Kingdom's decision to leave the European Union, and called Donald Trump a "demagogue" in 2016.

His greatest concern, his daughter said, "is how divided we've become," adding: "He makes this comment about how we seem to have lost the ability to look outward, and we are increasingly looking inward to ourselves." Hawking's final message to readers, though, is a hopeful one. Attempting to answer the question "How do we shape the future?" in the book's final chapter, the scientist writes: "Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet."
