I raced the SV650 between 2013-2016 and have done countless track days. Street riding can be fun, but the real zen happens when I'm on a track. I hope to get back before I'm too old.

BTW, there's a moto thread under another sub forum. It's been sleeping for quite a while.
Dang! I looked for one and couldn't find it!

My opinion on motorcycles is:
If it's got two wheels and an engine, I'm good with it. I find the worst problems with most motorcycles are between the handlebars and the seat.
Without that problem even Harleys are great! (though not my type of motocycle).

I'll only disagree with Bardo on one point re: Triumphs. If riding one gives you a sense of glee no other motorcycle does, then get it and be prepared for its warts and idiosyncrasies (ie the stupid decisions the engineers made and the things that routinely go out of adjustment or break that you have to live with.)

Our 2 AMA supersport bikes. I painted both. First is a Triumph Daytona 675. Pic taken at Roebling Road in Savannah as a season opener with WERA (always on st paddys weekend). We later gave up on it because we couldnt find a good setup for dunlops with stock rear linkages (only to later find out the AMA didn't care if we used aftermarket).

Second is a GSXR we replaced it with.

I was in grad school when Hailwood died. Tragic.

But Randy Renfrow's death hit me much harder. I met Randy at the Springfield, VA Yamaha shop and had NO idea who he was--he hadn't yet won his first national AMA championship and, as far as I knew, he was a club racer. Oops!
I was struggling with a front brake issue with my '81 650 Maxim and nobody could figure it out--turned out some fluid had turned to virtual epoxy and plugged the tiniest of tiny bleed holes.
Nicest guy in world--came up to about my shoulder, about my wife's height, and very unassuming and helpful.
Wow! Were WE stunned when he became champion! By that time he had moved on. But we were proud of him!
August 9, 2002. Bad day.
He was on crutches, recuperating at his parents' home and fell down a flight of steps. Horrible.

This thread forced me to get a little caught up in whats new and popular these days in motorcycling.

Some of what I'm seeing out there is mind blowing, both Harley and Indian bringing out naked street bikes, they call them flat track racers but to me they are just real bikes.

Also Harley producing an electric bike? They must have mounted a small oil reservoir on it that will drip when parked outside of a strip joint. Built in a sound system that will play a recording of a pan head fitted with straight pipes for when you are cruising by Masons house.
