I find it odd that in the 21st Century, what was the world's greatest empire is now spending significant resources banning weapons that have been in use since the literal Stone Age.
Considering the fact that these weapons can be readily made from crap you find on the ground, maybe they should consider root cause mitigation?
It has been an authoritarian society with privileges for only a few for an extremely long time. This just keeps following the same tradition. No surprise.

This is where the UK's anti-knife campaign has gone in terms of actual enforcement:
https://twitter.com/MPSRegentsPark/stat ... 8558980096
I reallllly want to believe this is a joke, but it fits with their other triumphant "stop and search" weapons seizure posts on the account. Here in the US, edged weapons are used to murder 3-4 times as many people as are killed with rifles of any kind; if a semi-auto rifle ban is a part of "common sense" legislation, then so is the UK's hilarious waste of public resources focusing on objects rather than root causes of violence.

I mean, using a first-world police force to round up rusty pitchforks might seem absurd at first, but remember that farming implements
are "weapons of rebellion," historically speaking, whatever their other uses. William the Conqueror allowed peasants to own the latest farming implements in a different era - he never meant for them to have modern steel pitchforks with composite handles. Anyway, what are you going to do with a pitchfork against a modern knight? Pitchforks have changed, so should the law.

We need to add a tactical rock ban

I see what you did there...:-) As for modern knights, neck and groin (femoral arteries). Any body armor must have gaps if you're going to be able to move.

The ultimate Nanny State, with a figurehead nanny at the top - the Queen. Since these stabbings have basically been in the London area, I'm sure they're concerned about the tourist trade and showing tourists that they're doing something.

This genuinely makes me sad. Despite our many differences, they were our staunch friends and allies through two world wars, and a cold war.
Now... This mindless reaction to the human condition.
Humans are dangerous... At what point do we ban them?

As a longtime fan, I'm a little surprised at how much I object to Cookie Monster being dragged into all this.
(and I kinda wonder about whether they have permission from Sesame Workshop)

In Scotland “glassing” is the term used for hitting someone with a pint glass.
“I’ll gie ya a glassin’ jimmy!”

1) instill fear into the populace
2) convince citizens that more police powers are needed to make them safe
3) enact new laws restricting personal freedom and enhancing the police state
4) if there is a failure to keep the populace safe, use as evidence that not enough is being done; go to 1
5) if there is a success in getting prohibited items/activities/people "off the street", convince the populace that such laws are working and should be expanded; go to 3

Yeah. I wonder when I'll need a permit for my bandsaw, table saw and radial arm saw. Butchers use bandsaws, you know, to
dismember (animal) bodies. Totally not safe.

Sometime after owners of bandsaws, table saws, and radial arm saws in the UK do. The UK is way ahead of us on the restriction of weapons and has taken the obvious next step of declaring household tools weapons, but we'll get there.

Wait till the police discover wood turning tools. And the totally dangerous assault cordless sawsall. Probably need to take a class and get a permit to use one, same as Massachusetts requires a permit for a nail gun.

I lost my framing hammer in a boating accident. And my Hawaiian sling. Luckily, my hanbo looks like a stick and floats so was able to recover it. I'm sure that won't be banned.
