I picked up a couple boxes of these at the LGS yesterday. Cute little buggers. 1.75 inch 00 buckshot. I had previously purchased the requisite adapter for the Mossberg 500 - you can see it in the port. It was about $15 from Amazon.com.

I have not fired them but I did a trial load and I can fit 9 of them, just barely, in my gun. It hold 5 2.5inch shells nominally. I’ll try to get to the range later this week and see how they feed. First impression is that I would not bet my life in their ability to feed reliably but they could be fun. Price is about $1 apiece so I doubt I will shoot hundreds of them.

Looks great for HD purposes. More rounds in the magazine and even less worry about over penetration.

If your adapter is the plastic one, practice with it a LOT before using those expensive shells. I found that the adapter kept popping out a bit. It wasn't something I would depend on.

It would have been fine if the Aguila shells were cheap to shoot, but they were really expensive compared to other shells when I bought them. The Aguila shells are said to only work well in a few shotguns. I have a Winchester Defender that works perfectly for the Aguila shells and I have heard that the Kel Tec shotgun also works well.

If you find those shells cheap, stack 'em deep... and tell me where you got them!

Might look that way.. about the over penetration.. but it isn't true.. the load is about 5/8th of an ounce of buffered OO buck going at 1200 fps .. the buffering typically keeps the pattern tighter and the 1200 fps is within the typical range of 2 3/4 OO buck shotshells so individual pellets are going to be , energy wise , about the same as a regular OO Buck shotshell just about half the number of pellets

I saw a guy at the range with some. They seemed soft on his end but still looked to have a decent payload, judging by the paper.

My big concern is reliable feeding and ejection. This is not my main HD gun at this time so I am not obsessing (yet). I think I could mount the adapter more securely but that would limit me to the little shells. I’m hoping that I can get to the range tomorrow but I really need to winterize the chicken coop so it may be later in the week.

I’ll try to remember to save some targets to look at patterns.

Do they make those things in 20?

I’m not sure. I have only seen them in 12 but I have not done an exhaustive search.

I finally got to the range today and put thirty of these pricey little guys through my Mossberg 500. No feeding problems whatsoever. They are a blast, literally and figuratively. The recoil is like a light birdshot load. I can put 9+1 of the shorties in my shotgun or 5+1 2.5-inch shells.

I am not ready to load these for HD and may never be, due to the dollar per round price but they are a lot of fun. Follow up shots are fast and my arthritic shoulder is not complaining at all.

Here’s a picture of the pattern at ten yards. Some shot missed the perimeter but most of the five loads were on the plate.

Glad to hear that your adapter worked well! Can you PM the link to purchase that one? My plastic one is definitely not super reliable.

Those shells are fun to shoot, aren't they? The slugs are easy to shoot, too! After blasting through several boxes, I realized how much money I was sending down range. YIKES!

I really wish these were cheaper and that more manufacturers would make them.

I am not experienced with this shotgun and I keep shooting high. I am thinking about adding one of the XS peep sights with rail so I could add a red dot if desired. Anyone have experience with the XS shotgun sights?

Just saw the thread thanks for the info on the shells recoil I bought some to try out in my Shockwave have all three types bird, buck, slug. Think hard about them as HD. I have the laser light combo on the shockwave. Just waiting for a time to get out a shoot it.

I’m not sure I will ever shoot enough of these to rely on them for HD. But they are a real hoot. My experience is that the OPSol adapter is more reliable than the plastic one. Also, the latter may not work if you have a side saddle. YMMV, of course

Wondering if these mini shells can be reloaded? -or created from conventional shotshell components. Anyone try?

She is my harshest critic.

I will save some hulls next time I shoot them in case anyone wants to try to reload them.

These shells have me strongly considering the Mossberg Shockwave for HD. And 7/8 oz slugs sound like a hoot.

Just mini-shells, I believe.

The mini-shells were made to work in a Winchester Defender, I am told. They work perfectly in mine with no adapter and you can mix n match with normal shells (I don't know why you would). I hear they work perfectly in the KelTec KSG, too. I've tried them in my Mossberg with an adapter, but I wouldn't bet my life on that adapter.
