Yes, there is such an animal as a liberal and progressive prepper. I am one.
I've been prepping (more or less) since Reagan was in office. The Cold War is over, but
Republicans are back and more determined than ever to screw things up.
Share what you did today, however large or small, to prepare for what may come.
Today I ordered an extended 100 hour battery and armored case to go along with the new cell phone I ordered. I'll be able to stay in contact longer without a recharge for as long as the network stays up.
What did you do?
Re: What Did You Do to Prep Today?
2Put in a little extra hours to have a little extra dinero.

Puffing up is no substitute for smarts but it's a common home remedy
Re: What Did You Do to Prep Today?
4Finally got around to separating spent brass casings into their respective calibers. Turns out I have a lot of 308 and it's kind of a PITA picking out 38spl from 357Mag.
Next up, plotting out the eventual reloading of said brass.

5I generated a couple more empty beer bottles for later storage of small acorns.

6A new cell phone is definitely on my list - too many choices. Also eyeing a new pistol, not sure what yet.

Re: What Did You Do to Prep Today?
7Don't prep much anymore, too tired of it after Reagan and later Bush II, now I just want some rest. But I'm ramping up a bit, spent a ton of time at the range this week...
Re: What Did You Do to Prep Today?
8Not much today but we do keep our trailer in ready state - filled up the propane last week.
Re: What Did You Do to Prep Today?
9Made sure there was enough cash in the bank to pay property taxes. City can afford to run the water pumps and sewer lift stations now.
May need to add to the beer stock pile.

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

11straightened up the shop. separated some firearm stuff from automotive and woodworking. fixing my neighbor's lawn mower.
i'm retired. what's your excuse?
Re: What Did You Do to Prep Today?
12I've had a pretty stocked freezer and do canning- finally got around to picking up a dual fuel generator a week or two back so it'll keep the fridge and freezer running in a power outage. Also have cord of wood for the winter, stacked and split. Never a bad idea to have supplies on hand just in case.
Re: What Did You Do to Prep Today?
13a cord? might get you through december. oh, wait, california. nm.

Re: What Did You Do to Prep Today?
14It's also not the primary heat source. We go through about a quarter cord a month in the winter

15Winterized my camper so my plumbing works if we have to bug out. Afterward, I took a twenty mile bike ride encompassing two local breweries so I'm good, fit and experienced if I have to bug out by bicycle when tipsy?

17Cleaned all the handguns although they were already clean. Bought a big jar of Cheese Balls for snacking prior to onset of Armageddon.

Re: What Did You Do to Prep Today?
18I made a wood burning camping/hiking stove from a large can that can be used to Stowe dehydrated food when in the field.

19That is some quality prioritizing, right there.Bucolic wrote:Cleaned all the handguns although they were already clean. Bought a big jar of Cheese Balls for snacking prior to onset of Armageddon.

20Same here. As i learned in school , there is only so much energy in the universe, so I am prepping by storing up energy today.Marlene wrote:Rested and treated myself well.

21Quizzed the kids about what to do in case of a fire and where our rally points outside the house and outside the neighbourhood are.

22I devised a strategic plan in the event of "The Rapture" to grab a Volvo wagon from the car dealership which puts those little fishy things on the rear and then load it with the stash from my Mormon neighbor. Then I'll carry on much as I have in the past.

23I'm kind of a quiet prepper. Don't talk about it much, especially to my neighbors. In a SHTF scenario, the less they know about my 'stuff', the better. It's as yet a modest stash of those 25 years on the shelf meals, water purification, propane lamps, heaters and stove. I have a list and it's still being added to. Thinking of my small extended family too, as I know they don't take a lot of possibilities seriously. Most don't, and they are the threat to those of us who do. What worries me most is the duration of a crisis. Will I have enough of my meds to stay healthy? Things like that.
The Trump presidency will soon be challenged, by terrorist, foreign nations, and just plain a-holes who want to show how 'smart' they are. Crashing our power grid by hacking, blocking communication etc.
I predict that something will happen on inauguration day.
P.S. Don't forget... lots and lots of toilet paper.
