I guess the lesson is don't carry in your back pocket?

Shouldn't the mere sight of an open carried gun be enough to deter criminals?

I'm thinking attract criminals is more like it.

Yeah, this is one reason I'm not a real fan of open carry. Kind of makes one a target. I'm not a Tactical Tom, if you will, so I think I would want to rely on a wee bit of stealth that the 'concealed' part of concealed carry would afford me. That, and I would feel kind of silly if someone stole my piece because it was just hanging off my side.

I watched the video. I couldn't tell if it looked like a gun and he grabbed it or if he thought he was pickpocketing someone's wallet. The owner may have been messing with it outside too and the guy noticed.
I'm surprised he was able to walk away.

Well, he was armed at that point.
Man #1 obviously didn't have much retention on that holster. I don't open carry, but sometimes I carry OWB during winter and my holsters have a locking system.

Good reason to open carry a cap-n-ball revolver. Your average perp won't have a clue what to do with it once they have it.

That perp just walked right up and snatched it....the guy flinched but apparently his happy meal was more important.

Maybe it was a SNS. Depending on the gun, the meal may have been worth more.

Karma would be served if the gun taken had been a craptastic plastic jam-o-matic Kel-Tec.
