For once, a pleasant gun store experience - RifleGear

For whatever reason, traditional gun stores tend to hire sales staff that are knowledgeable (or opinionated) about guns, but have terrible interpersonal skills. It's a real turn off dealing with some condescending crusty gun guy who seems to be annoyed by your presence in his store. Also, the stores can be located in less desirable parts of town.

Somehow I missed the fact that a new brick and mortar gun store opened a year ago about 20 minutes north of my house.

Online reviews of service and inventory was overwhelmingly positive, so I decided to stop in this morning. Their website showed Walther PPS mags in stock, which have been hard to find anywhere lately, so I figured it wouldn't be a waste even if the store was lousy. Happy to report the store was excellent. Friendly knowledgeable staff, no pressure to buy (they don't work on commission), and most major pistol and revolver makes and models anyone would be interested in seeing. And a long wall with a dizzying variety of nice, really nice ARs. Glass case with stripped lowers at various price points, drop in triggers of all kinds that I got to try, optics that cost more than 2 house payments, suppressors, Magpul furniture, etc. The sales guy was happy to spend time showing me stuff and just talking about gun related topics. I also noticed their prices were generally much better than big box stores for the identical firearm. I think these folks will be getting some of my business, especially when it comes to specific firearm purchases. Gun shows have been too hit or miss lately, and big box store pricing is lousy, plus limited inventory.
