Richmond Police Chief Alfred Durham said at least six people were shot when a suspect opened fire inside the bus station in the 2910 N. Boulevard at 2:45 p.m.

Then that would be three civilians shot, "WEB STAFF."

So the gun laws in VA couldn't protect civilians...and the cops can't protect civilians...that would make some folks want to open carry...no?

One dead, three wounded as "drug interdiction" exercise goes wrong in Richmond, Virginia.
"According to police sources in Richmond, troopers with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation were participating in drug interdiction training at the bus station at the time of the shooting."

Update: Wounded trooper dies.
"Officials said the shooting happened near the end of a counter-drug training mission for state police. Part of the training involves approaching civilians and talking to them. When a state trooper in uniform walked up to one man at the entrance to the bus station, the man pulled a gun and shot the officer at close range, Geller said."

I think there is probably more to this story that we haven't heard yet. Previous reports mentioned two plainclothes officers approaching the man.
