This is why I won't paint carry guns.

I do agree you should have no fluff on your carry gun.

But this story in particular...The guy shot was on his knees. This wasn't a murder...This was an execution by a cop. Even without the inscription, this cop should be put away.

Seems like a no-brainer to me. You might as well have Guilty-As-Charged grips.

I think there might be a difference between having (say) the stars and stripes on your grips vs. a dust cover that says "You're Fucked".

Willing to bet that if he had a pink dust cover with Hello Kitty on it, it would not have been brought up…

The dust cover is bad taste.

Killing someone on their hands and knees is capital murder.

This sounds like one of those guys who become cops because they're itching to shoot someone. If the shooting is justified then whatever on the dust cover is not gonna matter, but since it isn't then every little thing is scrutinized.

All the stuff I put on my carry piece are purely functional, no engraving or coloring and shit. It's a tool that might take a person's life (in the defense of mine), so it's somber and subdued.

I'm sorry if I'm stating either the obvious or something people just can't agree with, but really, these types of emblems or etchings do show an overly aggressive streak, one that borders on bloodthirsty.

A guy on another forum showed a picture of the safety settings on his AR15. It read: Safe and Kill.

These types of gun owners scare me, because they come across as wanting to kill someone and the law and potential jail time is all that's keeping them from doing it. If given the chance, I think they would orchestrate a "self-defense" alibi so they could kill an unarmed petty thief, much like Byron David Smith had done, who is now serving life without parole for double premeditated first degree murders.

Of course, these are just my feelings, but I like to think I'm a pretty good judge of character and who I should avoid association with.

I don't have any sayings on any of my weapons or their cases. These are weapons, meant for self-defense. Anything other would be completely against my beliefs regarding the right to life.

It became rather evident to me early on in my evolution as a gun owner, that there are two types of people who carry firearms: Those who hope circumstances that might require the need for a firearm never present themselves...

And those who can't wait.

An unarmed man who was shot and killed by an Arizona police officer in January cried, complied with police orders and begged for his life before the fatal firing, according to a newly released police report.

Mesa Police Officer Philip Brailsford has been charged with second-degree murder for the death of Daniel Shaver, a 26-year-old Texas man. Authorities have declined to release Brailsford’s body cam footage from the deadly encounter.

But a report released on Tuesday includes extensive description of the footage, detailing Shaver’s desperate final moments before Brailsford fired five shots at him with an AR-15 rifle.
:hmm: It does not look good for Brailsford. :hmm:

Article says there may be a plea deal.

This is Maricopa County where LEOs can do no wrong. Just ask Sheriff Joe. :sarcasm:

I agree, you should not have this engraving (or similar type novelties) on a defensive type weapon.

The written reports are the deceased kept moving his hands and ultimately reached to his waist (sounds like to pull up his pants). That would certainly put leo on edge. I guess I'll hold my thoughts back until the release of the video and audio
