Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory

Smith & Wesson announced a new pistol today. The SW22 Victory.

Here's the Handguns Magazine first look.
The new SW22 Victory is constructed on a single-action, enclosed hammer-fired, blowback semi-automatic design. Chambered in .22 LR, the SW22 Victory comes highly featured with innovative design qualities that include a match-grade, interchangeable barrel with a simple one-screw takedown design.
I gotta say it does look gorgeous in a utilitarian sort of way.

The lower looks just like the lower on the 22a, except for the relocated magazine release. One hopes that relocating the button allowed them to slim down the clunky grip, but somehow I doubt it.
The 22a also has a problem in that the recoil spring terminates in a block of plastic. My recoil spring, after many thousands of rounds, pounded its way out the front of that plastic block and spit bits of plastic into the face of the shooter next to me. I consider that a design flaw.
I'll look at this offering when it becomes available, but, knowing how the corporate mind works, I don't have much hope that this is a complete redesign that fixes previous problems. We'll see.

Nah, it's hideous, but I love that look. It's 2016, why don't our guns look a little more Buck Rogers?

If so, then will Colt sue Ruger for copying the Woodsman?

I can shoot my 22a really well, but I would trade it in a minute for something more interesting....more interesting than the Victory.
