We're starting to see the results of the fear mongering by all sides.
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that during a fistfight at Disney Springs(formerly Downtown Disney) people interpreted glass breaking as gunshots and caused a panic among patrons.
It is lucky that nobody was seriously injured in the mass panic. There are some fairly narrow paths and streets there as well as plenty of barriers, benches and low walls.
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that during a fistfight at Disney Springs(formerly Downtown Disney) people interpreted glass breaking as gunshots and caused a panic among patrons.
People were screaming, running, hiding and crying, said Ariana Landi, who said she was eating dinner with her parents and boyfriend at Bongos Cuban Cafe when people started yelling, "Shots fired."
For reference Disney Springs isn't a Disney theme park, it's a shopping/dining/entertainment area that is free to enter and hosts restaurants, bars and music venues.Reedy Creek Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Eric Ferrari said his agency received a report of a shooter at Disney Springs — formerly known as Downtown Disney — that turned out to be "a total false alarm."
"It was over before anything started," he said.
The only injury he said he was aware of was someone who had a cut on the foot, but he didn't know how the person got hurt.
"Everyone is on edge in general," Ferrari said. "I guess it started a mass panic."
